quickslots unfillable with items, can't use items

Logged in last night and things were fine. Logged in less than an hour ago, and one of my chars has the following problems:

1) Quickslots all blanked. Can add abilities to the slots, and successfully use them, but when I drag an item to a slot, the log says "you cannot use that item."

2) Can't use items in inventory - the 'use' is missing from the menu entirely. Drop, cast spell, examine, and equip (for equippable items) still show.

3) All scrolls appear blank in inventory except for the rez pack. The second chance pack, in addition to appearing blank, is also green. The scroll name still pops up on mouseover.

4) Not suprisingly, while I can manually log in to different servers, trying to port at the docks results in refusal ("invalid character" or something to that effect).

Everything else about the char seems intact, though I didn't venture out of town and try combat. My other chars work fine.

Sounds like you character is corrupted. Because we are about to move the server over to a new host, I can't fix it at the moment. Please post back after the move is complete - should be tonight.

You character is corrupted. Make a list of your inventory items, the ones that aren't easily replaced at a store, and post it here. Then track down a dm ingame, have them verify the list, and post here. At that point I'll delete the character, and they can relevel you a new one. Do NOT try to delete the character yourself.

Found a DM to help. He(she?) held my items/gold for me, had me make a new char, gave all the stuff back to me, and then had me delete my old char at the rowan tree. Three stacks of items passed off were pots and scrolls, and in the new char they still didn't work (no 'use' option, could not drag to quickslots). New pots and scrolls I bought worked fine. The DM deleted the corrupted ones from my inventory.

Unfortunately, my other items are now somewhat corrupted too. I have a bunch of rings and several other items that lack descriptions (can't use the staves, no bonuses from worn items, etc). What would you like me to do?

Oh, and I ended up with a lvl 40 belt that I had not previously owned, guess the DM gave it to me by mistake.

You should not have any of the items from the old character, they should've been replaced by new ones, which was the purpose of the list. You'll have to track down a dm again, and get them thrown out and replaced.

I did. I pointed the DM to this thread, and they chose just to hold my stuff for me. I didn't say anything, figured they knew what they were doing. Will track down another one.

Ah, of course. When I wrote 'Do NOT delete the character yourself' you ignored the NOT because it was all big, unlike the other letters. Just count yourself lucky that there were no problems, because you would be SOL if there had been.
