After watching how well traps work on some of the foes you see in HG, I started to wonder how to put together a trap based rouge. I've also managed to collect a few of the trap makers kits as well, so I figured it may be about time I used them. So my questions are as follows.
What stat is needed to operate the trap makers and how much is needed to use them all effectively? Also would it be viable to alter the Halfling death build into a trapper?

It's rogue.

Its a Rogue not Rouge (that’s a shade of red) and my guess would be that you would have some success at lower levels then find yourself ineffective in LL areas (and very poor as the good traps are very expensive to produce).

you can just swap Open Lock for Set trap in the halfling Death build if you really want it. Read the info screen on your trap makers, they have DC and cost for them.
epic traps have a set DC of 65.
Their are 9 trap kits at "Devastating" level I don't know the set DC for those.

I know people who've tried and everyone of them have said that trapmaker rogues are worthless in the LLs, even with the super traps from the rare trap makers.
Something about how the traps only hit one monster and they usually make the save against them...

Yeah, the DC on the devastating traps is only 40, and its a reflex save on all of them. Kinda sad that the storebought deadly divine traps are better than all of the devastating traps combined. (80-120 divine damage, no save)
