my first post! woot!
how do i "unlock" the secret type subraces?
also, i tried to make a Nerekin as my first character, but it did not take. I had copied and pasted directly from the PDF. Is it mispelled? A dm, in-game, helped me to determine that it did not take. (sorry, DM I forgot your name)

Did you choose the right base race, and enter: "Half-Elf - Nereidkin" (without quotes) in the subrace box? It is easy to mistakenly type "Nereidkin", especially as some races do not require the base-race to be entered. (My spelling is copy/paste from the Subrace section of the Forum.)
Secret subraces are secret, and discussion on the forums is limited. I think it is safe to say that quests are involved, and items may be found to help. Chatting in-game will reveal more. Look for Spike, or ask party-members.
Welcome to the forums!

yes, i chose HalfElf as the base race and no, I didn’t include any quotes or any other symbols - everything was correct "according" to the pdf AND the chart listed at the beginning of this thread which had the spelling, “Nerekin” which I copy and pasted. But at this thread: highergroundpoa.proboards3.com/index.cgi?board=info&action=display&n=1&thread=6671&page=1#1129909569it is spelled “Nereidkin” SO, there lies the problem. One source says one thing and another source says something different. Is Higher Ground BB/General/Class/Ability/Spell Customizations/Subrace Information the most updated and trusted source, then? lol, i have to go to work now... thx for the "secret" info and official welcome! =)

this chart is not official and has no guarantees of accuracy (thats why its in the general forum instead of the documentation forum). i dunno about the pdf, since ive never looked at it (or even for it)
everything in the documentation forum should be correct (barring the suggestions threads); there might be minor mistakes buried in the masses of text but the subraces are probably correct

Actually the post at the beginning of this thread doesn't say something different. If you read it you'll see that it clearly states that its for reference and since some race names have been adjusted, you should use the official name from the sign at the docks when building a character. I include the relevant text below: Now in this case the Nereidkin was just a typo and not a deliberate adjustment in the race name for the chart. I have corrected this typo. Ralkain

Are builds that use any of the updated sub races changed automatically with the update?

This has been modified to include the recent new races and favored class additions to existing sub-races.
The sole exception is BC, anyone know what BC stands for, it always comes after favored classes (i.e., FC: Bard, BC: Dwarven Defender).

What do the FC notations mean? - Much as the standard races have favored classes, subraces have favored classes (FCs) as well, which can either be the same as the base race, or override it. Many have more than one FC, in which case neither counts when assessing experience penalties. In addition, some subraces have bonus classes (BC), which grant an experience bonus when the character has levels in them. 10% bonus is the standard BC bonus, and if a class grants more it than that it will indicate the total bonus. Some subraces disregard their highest class, like humans, and some, like Undying, never suffer experience penalties from multiclassing. Still others have different FCs for each gender. - Some subraces do not require any race. Some of these list Base Race as one of their FCs. This means that it uses the character's base race's FC for one of its FCs. - If no FC is listed, the subrace will have the same FCs as the character's base race. Funky

can someone keep an updated pdf file or some how copy and paste the most current subrace list and keep it up to date without all the extra posts showing changes? basically either edit the orig post or create a new one? id rather not have to write out the list by hand and i cant copy the journal pages.

I would like to make a suggestion about one of the subraces.
With a name like Baseborn Titan, can the character model be size large? It would seem to me that with titan blood you would at least be a little larger than norm. Maybe institute a secret to allow them to achieve a size change similar to that of shapestrong?
Just some thoughts.
