Rough idea for quasi-class, just brainstorming here, not well-thought out.
Had an idea for the most powerful weapons in the game to come from players who devote a lev 60 char to one type of weapon and upon reaching certain levels having the skills needed to craft a magical weapon with certain attributes. The weapon would only be transferrable once at an alter type device and once activated is soul bound to the player. For example, perhaps once reaching lev 60 the char could create vorpal wep with dc dependant on craft skills, and any other requirements. Perhaps the weapon could be started at lower levels to give the char a feel of growth and accomplishment as he/she gains levels, maybe permanent enhancement bonus, keen, damage types, etc.... The weapon may not be transferred until the char is lev 60 to limit the availablility of these types of items, very few people would devote a char to craftign weps i suppose, but for the dedicated who seek out certain quest type items, the possibility would at least exisit. Could possibly be based on str ability for using crafting items and manipulating the finest materials like maybe ssith ore, and adamantine. Could perhaps offer limited types of immunity both physical / and elemental from the toughness a weapon smith must possess to withstand immense temperatures from the anvil and smelting pots. Could use con and str and int as core stats, int being what seperates from say a dd or barb, so that to obtain the peak performance the char would need to sacrifice a bit of di and elemental immunity. Would be interested in seeing if anyone else might want to elaborate on this base idea.
