Currently the auto-caster is non-transferable and the pedestal won't give one if you already have one. I think it would be nice to be able to have several, on one hand to have different sets of buffs, for example with/without damage shields in case of KB mobs, and on the other hand for hacks like quick-slotting GV on bard without targeting. Would there be any harm in making it transferable and letting the pedestal give out additional ones?

For buffing with n without damage shields I don't really have much of an issue with this, I never put damage shields on my autocaster any way, I just quickslot the damage shield spells to use whenever I need em

As far as I know the spells aren't actually 'attached' to your autocaster, they are attached to the PC and the autocaster is just an item which lets you interact with the script (i.e. autocasting can and I think is doable with simtool alones). This means allowing more autocasters would require quite a lot of modification to the script for minimal gain (and buffing is part of the game, and modding your buff lists perhaps shouldn't be able to be fully automated). I could be wrong however.

Originally I wanted a second auto-caster to let bard cast GV without targeting. Maintaining different sets of buffs was a afterthought, but I think it would be a nice addition as well.

Just logged in my bard to confirm this - you can already cast GV without targetting, unless you have your inventory open (as with any self target buff).

I'm casting GV via Greater Shadow Conjuration, I guess that's probably why it needs me to target it. Sorry for not specifying this in the OP. If regular GV does not need targetting then the multiple autocaster suggestion is probably quite a bit less meaningful...

Normal GV definitely doesn't need to be targetted. Unless as said above, ya inventory is open, it works the same way as GS.
