I'm looking for help.
There's a few things you should know: 1) I've tried and spent tireless hours in doing so, to set it up on my own, with no luck. 2) I'll spend more if I have a lead on where to go. 3) I do not have NWN Gold, only NWN Platinum and NWN Diamond editions. 4) My main issue came with trying to get NWNx2 to run. 5) I'd like to use NWNeXalt. 6) I'm not totally unfamiliar with command-line computer navigation/control. 7) I don't need to play the game on this machine, just run a server (or 3, hehe)
Now there's a few things I'd like to know: 1) Which version of Linux is best to use? Last time I tried I used 10.4 or something (don't even remember, months ago). I can get you exactly what I used if needed. 2) Is there a well detailed, complete, guide to setting up a NWNServer on a Linux machine? All the guides I've seen say "Install NWN Gold and press play!"..... 3) Can I run the toolset on the Linux machine, or will I need to do it on another machine then copy the file over? 4) Are there any recommended files or programs for editing my server outside of those provided by BioWare?

I guess this is as good a time as any to enlist more beta testers for one of our soon-to-be-released community projects, NWN in a Box (NWNIAB).

I've had by far the most luck using Ubuntu Server 8.04 IA32 (the Long Term Support release). This is also what we host HG on (though we host HG inside Amazon EC2 VMs). 2. See the above post which includes full and detailed instructions for setting up NWNIAB. 3. No. The toolset only runs on Windows. NWNIAB includes a menu which will copy files from your development modules folder into itself and then run them there, allowing you to both develop and run your server on the same machine. 4. Other than NWNX, the ERF tool and Kivinen's GFF utilities (both of which are included inside NWNIAB) are also very useful. Acaos

Wow. Just... wow.
Question: The only module in the module list is "+NWNIAB" Even though I've selected my NWN folder?

If you download it and check it out, impressions and bug reports are very appreciated.

Question: The only module in the module list is "+NWNIAB" Even though I've selected my NWN folder? Do you have any modules present in the 'modules' folder under your NWN folder? Also, check the Shared Folders settings and make sure they look similar to this: (link deleted). Note that NWN often installs in a folder like 'C:\Neverwinter Nights\NWN'; you should point your shared NWN folder at 'C:\Neverwinter Nights\NWN' and not at 'C:\Neverwinter Nights'. Acaos

If you installed in the default location, I believe there's a space there - that is, it installs into 'C:\Neverwinter_Nights\NWN', where the '_' character is a space. Did you browse for it or type it in?

Browsed for it.

Could you check and make sure the extension on your module is an all-lower-case 'mod'? (That's a minor nit which I will have to correct; it's currently case-sensitive for the extension).

Excellent; glad I could help - I'll fix that in the next revision.

The reason you still see it loading +NWNIAB is because it copies the module in, renaming it to +NWNIAB. You can see at the top that it says 'Running: Underworld'. This allows you to, for example, save the module in the toolset and then start it up in NWNIAB without having to close the toolset, and you can even then continue making changes without causing issues for the running module.
Also, the +NWNIAB module you see at the top in the module selector will then re-run the last module run by NWNIAB (rather than copying a module into the VM). The default +NWNIAB module it comes with is just a small empty module with a start area and nothing else (which would allow you to test basic functionality if you so wished).

Question. I'm a little confused as to what this does, is it just for building and hosting modules? I'd be more than happy to help with any beta testing but if it is just for people who build and host their own modules I'm probably not going to be any use Cata
