So, I was chillin out building random BG builds in the test area, and I really like the new summons that BG's receive. I'd like to maximize on them, and I noticed that the create undead ability is buffed by necromancy spell foci. I came up with this wonderful little plan to use a book to gain the epic necromancy spell foci so I can take the legendary spell foci at legendary levels. Here's my questions:
Number 1: Would I be able to take the Legendary Spell Focus Necromancy feat if I gained Epic Spell Focus Necromancy through a book and had blackguard as a control class?
Number2: Does the Legendary Spell Focus Necromancy feat have any affect on the blackguard's undead summon?
Thanks
Joe

Yes you can take LSF as a BG regardless of how you got ESF. I read the ESF Enchantment tome and took LSF Enchantment for better GMW on mine back before the summons so I see no reason it couldn't do so with Necromancy. My understanding is Create Undead and Summon Fiend are considered Necromancy so should be effected by how ever many ranks you have of Spell Foci for the given school. It should work up to LSF+Specialization and I suspect when we get Paragon levels it will scale up to PSF + Specialization. But how far up it scales is less an issue for a BG since it won't be able to go beyond the Spell Focus feats.

Thanks, Yojimbo! That's some good info! I think you answered all my questions... and more! Nice to know about paragon levels, too... and that info on specialization makes my head hurt, because now I am thinking about taking a level of wizard to get necromancy specialization. -OUCH-

Wonder if that works taking a Wiz level... but it is the reason a HoS make a hell of a summoner.

It was confirmed by (Were?) that wizard specialization counts for summons.
However the "extra" specialist rank only applies to wizard spells so that wouldn't help much when used as splash.

Oh good... That's a load off my brain. Making a wizard splash level work in my build was driving me KOO KOO!
