Diablo 3... if you didn't buy it, don't.. it's some pretty sad stuff. Imagine a free WoW, and then delete most of the good things and replace it with a few nifty graphic effects...
Embarrassing game release.

Meh my expectations were low so even though I'm not playing it (and can't without a new machine even if I wanted to) I can't be disappointed... If it's as lackluster as most reports seem to indicate why hasn't my friend came back to HG yet :/ grrr I hope it wasn't so bad that he decided to quit video games once and for all... One of my best friends was super-excited about this game and attended a pre-release only to get home and discover that his barely-2-year-old laptop couldn't run it...I think that kind of killed it for him....back to Black Ops for him I guess...

I don't know if I'll ever play it, but a day almost never goes by at work without someone mentioning it (or without me seeing someone browse D3 info on their computer). I tried the first - liked it but didn't finish it. Bought the second (have the "Battle Chest" on my shelf) but only played a few hours of it. Wasn't really my thing. I certainly found this article funny: www.cracked.com/blog/5-reasons-diablo-iii-represents-gamings-annoying-future/

I decided to pass on D3 and am waiting for Torchlight 2 instead - much better price tag! And I enjoyed Torchlight 1 enough that I am sure TL2 will fit the bill.

D3 is fun as a single player dungeon crawler. Great to kill time while runs are forming. It can be fun for small party co-op, Shard and I have tried a little with friends that could never get into HG or any MMO.
D3 is not an MMO really, if you are expecting that, you'll be very disappointed.

I saw some gameplay of this, and it seemed pretty boring compared to HG.

Yeah.
Funny story--last night the friend I mentioned called me up, said he got a new laptop to play it...
Anyway when I said "meh" type stuff he said well, it's not as bad as I thought at first...he went on to describe how an initial huge turn off to him was something about the way the GUI was set up and how you couldn't do such-and-such with it, but he then discovered that it's "customizable" or something which was a huge plus to him, anyway he went on about it and all I could get out of it was that it sounded essentially like some sort of similar version to NWN's quickslot system, he was expounding it's virtues and I'm sitting here staring at the screen playing HG and I'm just inwardly shaking my head....
Lol.
I used to play D2 obsessively but it's been so long and NWN is so dominant on my mind I could barely even picture what he was talking about but I thought it was hilarious that he was saying how good of an "improvement" this system was when to me all it sounded like was, hmm it's almost as cool as NWN.

It's overly simplistic with no penalties for error to speak of. It's pretty nifty looking and atmospheric, and it's satisfying at time's to squish a bunch of demons in one swing, but it wont hold attention for long at all. It's best selling point for me is it can go in 10 minute bursts (like when i manage to get home and my wife's still at the park with the kids!)
HG owns it.

Wait wait... there is good stuff in WoW?! i hope that was sarcasm or joke with the thread being about diablo 3 It has pretty graphics and im more of the action gamer myself..but its still not enough get me off nwn for now. appearently hardcore is a lot better then the normal multiplayer game from what iv seen. since they have their own action house that real money cant be used on -which means- you guessed it, no chinease gold farmers

Its mostly a joke as the op compared D3 to WoW and I found WoW to be an unbearable game to play that I don't think there is anything good about it. What can I say I don't get why people like Blizzard so much. I didn't care for D2 and have no interest in D3 I am actually surprised this thread lives wasn't there some rule or something about not talking about other games?

There was.
Surprised this thread has not been locked yet. And to answer Yojimbo's question, Blizzard has had far the best marketing strategy of all video game producers for the last decade. They are losing hardcore 24/7 gamers at this time, but for each lost devoted fan, several new are baited.

Indeed. Even though this thread bashes a third party game, it has the potential to pique others' interests. Locking the thread.
