can you make a good area for offensive mages to train?
clerics and druids can easily train in tower for some quick levels with ten mass heals daily
fighters, barbarians, and paladins can equip Titan items and become invinciple against physical damage
monk's high AC allows them to handle dragon slaying
and bards and rogues can use restricted items and train anywere.
I found that as a mage it is nearly immposible to train anywere without a party, which is why many people don't play as one

yes, I kinda agree.. I started as a sorc and i've come to the conclusion that the server is very melee oriented. There isnt a spectacular selection of sorc items anyway ^^; but besides that, it is obviously rougher for a mage class, being weaker and requiring rest constantly (and dealing with the rest spawns >.<.. I think I'll be making a rogue or monk soon. ^^;

It has ever been so for the mages of AD&D....... Unfortunately mages are gonna be harder to play, and not wanting to be negative, but for mages to play solo on HG, alot of creatures abilities would have to be changed, which is not gonna be good for the server. You could have a training area, but then where would you go? It's still gonna be hard out there. I also have a mage character, and i only bring her out when there is someone on the server at her level so she will have a better chance at staying alive. Just as a mention, why do u think they almost never had solo traveling mages in the story books? Because mages arent equiped to adventure solo, they are almost always party characters, even at high lvls.
That being said, if u look hard enough, and sacrifice some hours of your time, there are places you can go to solo your mage character, they just might not be as quick to do as the tower. BTW, wizards can use BBD scolls to u know!!

yes, the scrolls of BBoD, its good for a bit, but for me its just a way to get enemies to get closer together
BTW, I forgot to meantion how much the createors of PoA loved rangers, they are the only class to get a secret area to themselves

Yes, AW used to love Rangers, and there is a whole slew of Ranger equipment hidden somewhere in the Caves! ;D
And also, I am currently a Wizard/Druid, and I AM THE ONE running my group in the tower (if they didnt have me, they would all be dead!).
So with that said, I dont think its true that Spellcasters are weaker: you just have to know how to create them properly (i.e. make it so they can't be hit/seen using spells like Greater Invisibility).
Also, by taking levels in Druid, my character can read just about EVERY scroll, including Mass Heals. So, I feel he has QUITE the advantage over the common user.
