Can anyone share some info on resting?
I've seen and tested the following:
Majority of party rests = immed. encounter Less than half of the party rests = no encounter One person rests = no encounter MOST of the time (but it does happen)
So is this random? Anyone wanna share?

That's my experience too.
Hence the long heard HG cry: "Rest one at a time please people!"
(Usually followed by :" Coz at this rate we will run out of Rezzes")
Incidentally, I find some areas worse than others. So resting results will depend on the area. For example, resting in Razz is different from (easier) resting in Formians (or least last time I was in Razz).
Or least that was my experience
I think learning to judge this is one of the hidden tricks in HG. Since rest usually nerfs all buffs, a half-rested unbuffed character is frequently mince meat for a large mob.
One last thing: I have noticed a difference between two types of rest related spawn: encounters spawned and interrupting rest, and encounters spawned after rest is finished. The former is deadlier but the latter can be just as frustrating. Formians ("Abandoned Mine") is a good example of where both types occur. In this case it seems that any rest spawns an encounter at the end, and multi-rests spawn an encounter immediately.
Just my experience, and YMMV
Hope this helps

Grog,
Have you noticed that even one at a time may still spawn attacks?

Yeah MC, I have noticed that too. But it depends on areas. Formians are bad, as I noted.
And by the way, welcome MC and hello to all your "New Blood" too

Just to shed a little light, if there are rest encounters in a given area, they are checked once per player per rest, at the beginning, and if they do spawn, will spawn at the start of rest 50% of the time and at the end the other 50%. The chance of an encounter varies from area to area. Funky

hi, im new to the board. I'ven just reading all post. I had just an idea, more like a detail if you wish. There arent any campfires on the server, right? Campfires can be useful to avoid attacks when the characters are resting. Thats just an idea. There are servers where you cant even rest if the doors of the area are opened or you dont have an sleeping bag or a campfire (and if you get interrupted when resting you get blinded for a few rounds). I love that because its adds more dificulties to the game. Just an opinion. by the way, the server its just great. My favorite action module. ;D

Yeah, we have the campfires in our resrefs. I didn't give much thought to implementing them, because I'm still trying to cut down on lag via script alterations and removal, but I'll think about it. It might make resting too easy, especially in later areas, I need to look at the scipts first before I can say for sure. Thanks for the compliments - and please vote for us on the Vault!
