Hi all,
I recently re-installed NWN and after a bit of playing around decided to check out the multiplayer scene again. On discovering that all the servers I used to play on are dead/have moved, I discovered this one which looks great. So I set a password (different to the one I entered when clicking Multiplayer from the main menu, but I now understand that password means nothing) and logged in. The message about having a generic GoG key came up so I logged out to find out how to fix that.
I’ve updated my CD key, and also changed my player nick (not sure if that causes any issues) and joined using the Connect option which didn’t request a password. I remade my character and am on the boat, no GoG message so that seems fixed, but am told I entered an incorrect password. OK, disconnected and tried again, using Direct Connect in order to enter a password – type that password on the boat and it’s still incorrect – from reading around here that’s a CD key issue?
If it is that simple, can I please have my key reset?
Thanks!

HG gives the option to create a unique password for each CD key. If you have never logged onto HG and you have the requirement to enter a password on the boat, then you either have a used CD key or someone has access to your CD key.
If you did create a new account and forgot your password tied to your CD key, you need to post your account name so the DMs can reset it.

Thanks for the reply - actually seems I may have just made a mistake in the order I thought I did things, I've changed my nick back to what it was when I first attempted and can now log in fine. Have only read all the rules etc so will be re-creating a new character and cracking on!

FYI It is worth adding a login password to your account even though this adds a few seconds to getting on to the server, even though you'll have nothing on the gear front at the minute, if somebody else manages to log in to your account and adds a password you will then be locked out of it.

Thanks, I've taken your advice, and some from the builds page on the wiki along with a little personal preference, and am playing a druid. I have indeed died a lot, but will persevere!

I'd suggest a Yuan-Ti Sorcerer as this gets a 10% experience bonus off the bat which makes levelling up that much faster plus a sorcerer with the relevant focii and spells can solo pretty much everything pre-LL, yes you're extremely squishy at low levels but you can ameliorate this by taking Invisibility and using summons (the level IV Dire Tiger from the shop is good) to do the work until you have enough spell power to do it yourself.

Druid is fine! Don't give up Animal Empathy & Summons are really helpful to give you time to figure out what you're supposed to do against the various things you face. If you encounter many issues in the 1-15 part, I'd recommend taking a peek at the Wondrous Item Shopkeeper in the Item Shop to get some level VI scrolls to get you a nice pet tiger. That guy is a lifesaver early on. Edit: Also, !randomize -commanding every item you are not likely to use and then selling them afterwards gets you some much needed pocket change. I would even bind the macro into a key, next to a command targeter. Gets you some extremely nice finds every now and then as well, even if you weren't going to use it at first!

In fact you're 100% correct grab a load of animal empathy stuff from the shop then get yourself a Sheath of Stealth for Improved Invisibility and its Oltum based mass destruction all the way to the level 25 accomplishments, even without the bird you can find some cool animals to emp in the druids grove, my personal favourite being the Aurumvorax, its like a lump of concrete with teeth....................very big teeth! Buff them up with Awaken, Greater Magic Fang (weirdly has to be cast on yourself) and whatever else you see fit and watch them peck, chew or trample their way though pretty much all low level stuff.

Detailed instructions on Oltum at L6: highergroundpoa.proboards.com/post/219640Note, if you tailor your spells to buff Oltum, it is viable through 2/3 to 3/4 of the pre-LL. On the other hand, doing so, while good for exp grinding, doesn't really teach you how to play the class on this server.
