Many LL runs have an implicit prerequisite to certainty of tag/completion. Myconids has a need for item confusion immunity. There is no pre myconids run except thids - which is a post myconids run imo. Perhaps a random mini-boss in fey or trag that drops occasionally drops a conf imm item would be in order.
btw, i've been gone awhile and may have forgotten some arcane conf item from low level legendary runs - please enlighten if this is the case.

tbh it would be a "fit" flavor to add an item to myco that grants conf immunity w/tag ofc.

Good idea but bound by tag, in a place where you get the tag, that it is bound too. hell no!

Hmm, the pre-Immo Mycos are completely optional, and usually ignored. Most people don't even pursue the level capped reward exp from them.
Mayhaps they should be reworked into a higher end encounter with a temporary buff.

Why would we want to make the mid game content more boring by cutting out more LL content and making it end game content? The old content that exists is what makes the midgame worth doing. When you get so sick of DB for weapon collecting you have some other things you can do. Even if those things are largely ignored for db weapon farming, they shouldn't be eliminated or reworked out of midgame or we may find ourselves with no other option left but sissy and db and thids. By that concept we might as well just bump the xp from sissy db and thids to give you 55 levels and enter hells and delete the rest. I think we should leave the old content alone. It keeps the midgame interesting, doesn't need any maintenance and provides tons of opportunities for adding interesting new loots to make up for deficiencies elsewhere. The confuse immune Myco tag item is a great example of that, it could fill a hard to get immunity, fits the flavor and theme perfectly and could fill in a low level deficiency much like the low level implosion robes did. I dont think eliminating midgame content would ever be worth the time and effort it takes to do it. If you called for a Myconids end game area that expands on the myconid theme that is an entirely different concept that I could support. But at the cost of current content I could not support that, even if its rarely visited.
The solution to low interest in midgame content should probably be valuable loot, not elimination.

I'd suggest increasing personal xp if you are in adequate level range (regardless of other party members), reducing the number of encounters (making the run faster - myco is a bit of a slog).
As far as confusion go, make it last 3-6 rounds at most. Or reduce it even further to 2 rounds if it can be applied too often. (A brief confusion is already deadly)

Do you honestly not know that there is a completely optional section of the starting Underdark that has Myconids in it, or did you just breeze through what you thought I said and ignore the parts that did not make sense? I suppose, since the onset of the Quests, that bit has fallen out of use. The Quests are more efficient experience in the pre-teen levels, and, while 1,500 exp is non-trivial at that stage, when you are power leveling, it takes a lot of time comparatively. (If you want more info on the reward sequence, please ask privately, so as not to derail the thread)In any case, all I am suggesting is that, if the "quest" is not seeing a lot of use, mayhaps the King there could sell a potion or such to provide a time limited one time effect or use limited, limited duration effect.

This "was" a thread about the LL myconids.
My point is still the same, if any time is spent on content it should be spent on making new areas rather than over complicating areas that already exist.
Considering the current trend in the game the more simple solution would be for the king to random drop a potion when he was killed for 1 minute confuse immu. or any kind of LL confuse item

I guess i didn't do a good job of communicating here. Im not asking to complicate anything. I am noting that an early LL run requires confusion immunity yet no early LL access to confustion immunity exists. Is there a fey component "potion of confusion immunity"? I don't know. If there is no such potion recipe - it could be added.
Places that require twinking or bringing in a ringer so that folks that do an entire run don't wind up confused, out of party, missing the tag - need to have a remedy that does not involve bringing in banked gear or a ringer.

You no longer miss tags due to confusion as a note.

an early LL run requires confusion immunity yet no early LL access to confustion immunity exists. Hardly. Confusion does not in any way threaten the run, if you are able to beat the boss. Heck, it is an ability from the final boss in the run, it's part of the challenge. Lesser Mind Blank gives you 1 shot protection. Or bring buddies with any sort of clarity / mb. This is a party game. If you solo that run, chances are that you already are high enough level and have conf imm from elsewhere. Negative, you get tag even out of party, confused, or dead.

I would agree with the basic sentiment, there is no low level confusion immune item. There could be several spots to fill that need obviously, by adding a drop item on the king or a potion or some other option, but the confusion king does fit the theme quite well. Granted it is not a massive need, but certainly has the flavor. As far as I am aware there is no specific fey potion of confusion immu, but there does not seem to be much need for it, or was only a minor need for it based on the power of lesser mind blank, full mindblank and clarity, and even clarity potions in some situations.
I don't mean to dissuade ideas at all, even just throwing things out there for the devs to digest helps them to spark creative new ways to kill us. It just appears that a potion of this type is not useful at this time, considering if you are confused you cant drink it anyway.
A lower level wearable item does make some sense though, for what its worth.

i would be all for an item other than a helm to drop there, would be a good reason to go there and get the item

I don't really have an opinion either way, I look back on the "Myconid struggles" of 2014 quite fondly where we did ~~2-3 partysize groups to do myconids and all had to have mindblank source of some sort to save the others... There is certain fun to it, but it doesn't make you want to do it often.
Would go with the style of HG to have a ring that is otherwise empty but has conf imm on it, force you to struggle once and after that if you get lucky with setdrop you get a tool to deal with it. Don't see that as a big issue if such an item dropped earlier on in the content - but it does somewhat make the party play aspect of "SAVE ME!" lesser - something we all aspire to avoid as much as we can by flat out gear choices in endgame, so maybe not a bad idea earlier on either.

I was aware of the get it even if dead changes - didn't know that you could get it out of party. That makes this whole topic irrelevant. Pls disregard.
