Bottom line, top line, middle line, and all the lines in between Bullsh*t Bards, clerics, pale master, shadow dancers do not suck in a normal powergamer's mod. Why you ask because power gaming is all about making the character powerful. The problem here is that we have left the realms of power gamers and shifted into a more munchkin type of game. Now its all about items rather than classes. If you think that rp is about fishing, beehives, and crafting then you are as wrong as wrong can be. Rp is about having "Reasons". There is nothing wrong with making a character that starts out as a monk but decides that the harsh mandates of his order are interfering with his quest for perfection. There is a problem when people take that one level of monk solely to slap on the wisdom to their ac. Dipping is an abhorrent practice that is basically exploiting. No one is building a badass character on higher ground because right now there is no such thing. There are only "badass" items. Second of all if really doubt that this is Slayer or his Ghost if it is dworkin overestimated your gaming maturity when she told me about you if not then grow up. Bah real builds tell me would your "real builds" last a second in a "real game" these "real builds" are nothing more than weapons platforms without a single ounce of flavor or soul. Now there is nothing wrong with said builds as long as they realize that they sacrifice roughly 75% of what the game is about. The "builders" need to realize that there is more to the game than the amount of damage something can deal. If this is the kind of attitude we can expect from the "mature respectful" members of the higher ground board then someone needs to piss more to wipe the crap out the eyes of the munchkins, who of course can do no wrong. Lets sum this up If this is a beta test as people keep insisting then they need to get of their duffs and realize that there is more than one type of class and all their doing is satisfying juvenile fantasy's of power, or indulging in some sort of "cartman complex"oh and yes i am 80% sure that the slashing and piercing resist and the bludgening vulnerability was due to the undead type. Quit contemplating your navel and start thinking about the ramifications of what you decide to put in before we wind up with another fist of god item or a ring of spell sequencing disaster. It is clear from your response that you do not take criticism well. Be thankful that the admins of this server do.

Here's the way I see it ...
Yes, items out shine the characters for the most part.
I have a level 30 pure sorcerer which is not much more powerful than he was at level 20. A few epic spells and a few more spell slots, but overall not rising in power to a great extent. I puposely, with this character, have kept items to a minimum just to see how he fares. He could hold his own in most parties for the first 12-14 levels, but from levels 15-20 he lost ground to those who maxed out their items. After level 20, he really has become the weak link in most parties. He is by far the character who is killed the most even though he parties with character who are generally lower level than he is. I think this is largely do to the items that seem to kick in at levels 12-14 and again at level 20-25. Let me state - I am NOT complaining, this was my choice and if later I chose, I can equip him better.
On the other hand, I do catch myself when I find truely great items, trying to design characters around the items - or item combos. I enjoy this, trying to maximize the power of a character by getting him to a point where he can use a great combination of items that may not have been thought of before. But it does seem to be a little backward - designing the character to fit the item instead of find items that fit my character. It shows me that I am more concerned with most of my characters about which items they use than what abilities they have themselves.
I do enjoy both ways of playing and would be happy with either one or both (if that can be achieved - not so sure).
What I do find exasperating currently is the arms race between the characters/items and the monsters. I have characters that I really enjoy playing that are no longer nearly as affective as they once were. They are level 40 or close to it so I can't really change them and now that their items are no longer cutting it. I have not been able to find other items that they can use that are any better. They are better items now, but they don't fit my class/race/alignment restrictions. So until I find a resolution, these characters are basically shelved. My most mature characters can no longer compete well with the new generation of characters.
I'm not really sure why it is neccessary to pump up the monsters so much. If people aren't challenged, go out with a smaller party, or adventure without maxed out equipment, or increase the number of encounters, or dont buy heal potions. There are many ways to challenge yourself if you want it.
I thought the server was more balanced before the changes to pump up so many of the encounters and weapons. Right now there is an imbalance - at least for some characters. I know it is being worked on and I hope it can be improved soon.
I do enjoy playing on this server.

And there you have it. I got the short stick and was the first in my little group to take up the banner. After the Admins reaction to a little critisism and using a set of posts worked up between i and the others to i.d. exactly how the admins react, it was taken to its logical conclusion and i disapeared. Azhrei then took his turn and there was yet one more in our line up in case Azhrei fell as well. But now we are quite content that the purpose of our little game has come to pass. Except for "slayers ghost" who likely as not has absolutly no connections to slayer there are now some people who are thinking about the ramifications of the server changes and how they are effecting thier characters and the server in general and willing to speak up about it with a little prompting.
Nothing like a dedicated Dnd group with two psychology majors and a balance nazi to stir things up. We had similar problems in our campaign and we would post what we did to fix the problems but of course we aren't the ones people listen to regardless of our extended experience.
After all we are
childish immature disrespectful flamers the biggest nerds ever Ranters and completly incapable of saying anything worthwhile. *edit* Bitter *edit 2* (you cant really say we are bitter since we staged the whole thing and anticipated nearly every responce, Actually the only thing we hadn't counted on was the relative ease that some people were whipped into a frenzy)
Huzzah! ;D

I swear to f'in god, if one more person COMPLAINS in the BUG/PROBLEM REPORT AREA: they will have their posts removed, and account deleted.
I am tired of EVERY THREAD being turned into a flame war because of Dworkin and his cronies. Dworkin: if you can't say anything that you havent said ad nauseum, then please STFU.
No one wants to hear/read your worthless bitching, and I WILL delete you ignorant, moronic posts if you don't cut the shit. Grow up, stop throwing temper tantrums, and act your age. Because right now, you are coming off as a spoiled little brat who wants the world and wants it now.
Not to mention, you have done NOTHING to warrent us making any changes "for you", and if you continue your nonstop bitch spree, you won't be seeing anything on our servers at all.

I am having all kinds of issue with finding the key to the house distrct. If it is there and hid really well good job. I cant find it. Can you put a really BIG X on the spot. If it is in the slums can you put a really BIG 'white glowing X on the spot. I really would like to adventure there.
One other thing Creature seem a little hard to hit. I spent 30 min fighting the same guy and I finaly turned my sword on myself to end the pain. I do like the new areas and you guys have done a great job. I just want to be able to hit something most of the time (doesnt even have to be all the time).
Ok well last but not least I have missed you DM's so hope you are doing well.
Bull ;D

I am also having trouble as Kyle Shayfur (Slappy)equipping immortal items on my immortal character Terren. Same thing happens - it allows me to equip it and then immediately returns to my pack. I reported this initially about 1 1/2 or 2 weeks ago.
Terren is a 20/20 monk/rogue and my account is nwn5022.
Is anyone else having this problem?
Thanks.

The Immortal gear UnEquip is supposed to happen if your character is not immortal. It checks the same Campaign variable when you equip the gear as the OnDeath script checks when you die ("god"). Post again here if you know your char is FOR SURE immortal and I'll shoot Forsaken a quick fix.
