Over the last week or so I have been asked on a number of occasions if I have the "tag" for this or the "tag" for that. What do these "tags" signify and how do I know if I have them or not. The other day I was asked if I had the "Xull Tag", I have been in a party that killed someone with a similar name, I have her rapiers and ledger in my inventory. I also have the Abyssal Girdle from the HandMaiden of Lolth, but does this mean that I have the tags for these areas? - please enlighten!
ancient proverb:- the man who doesn't know and asks is foolish for a few moments, the man who doesn't know and dosen't ask is foolish for a lifetime...

In order to prevent players from just simply transferring all the good items from one character to the next, we made it so that in order to use some of the loot from some of the major bosses in the mod, you had to have killed that boss with that character. We did this to try and maintain a level of challenge for the players. Recently, in order to ensure players were playing thru the major parts of the mod and not just riding on coattails of other players, we made it so in order to reach certain areas, you had to have killed the boss of the area beforethat area. An example of this is having to kill Xullrae to reach the house district of mana. There are other sas well. Hope this clears this up for you. All that is required is that you be in party and in the area when that boss is killed. It sounds like you do have the Xullrae tag, especially since you were in the temple.

I have also wondered about this. I do not have a single tag on any character as of yet. Everytime I start on a "quest" something always pulls me afk or I simply die so often I am nothing but a burden to the entire party. Is there a story to be read somewhere on PoA? I would really like to have a small clue as to what the heck is going on. I noticed recently at the library that there were quite a few books on the Forgotten Realms and Even saw some familar names. Would any of these books be worth reading? I am seriously picky about my fantasy and can not stand it if it is poorly written or does not have an intelligent plot. Unlike my gaming I do not really care for hack and slash books. Is there a spoiler free walk thru for PoA somewhere? Something to just point me in the right direction. I honestly do get yanked from my computer so often I have a hard time following what the hell is going on. Have any of you ever tried to kill drow with 3 children under 6 in the same room? I would love to be able to know what I am supposed to be doing if I do return to the keyboard and find myself alone. I have spent all my time in HG either solo treasure hunting or power lvling.....I would much prefer to go to all these exotic places I keep hearing about but never really get to see. When I do manage to get to the drow I am seriously unprepared and have no real idea what to equip or guard against and can do almost no damage. It's really embarrasing. Help! Help!
Peace, Phantanya

***SPOILER WARNING!***
The overarching goal is to find the immortal crown and become immortal. Talking to NPCs around town will reveal some of this. First, you get a hero crystal, then use it (or walk) to get to the Forgotten Forest. Then you assemble it after finding all the pieces. Then you use it to get into Anduin's Temple, which eventually gets you to the drow, and the drow sewers, where there's a shortcut you can use back and forth. You'll need to find 2 slum keys to get to Xulrae, queen of the Docks district so to speak, and kill her to gain access to Manatakloss proper. There you gotta kill matrons in 4 different houses to get sealsto let you into the 5th house, the Queen Matron's house, Mat'lis'sk. There you kill the matron, get her key, snag a planar traveler ring, and make you way to the crown sanctum. Kill boss, get the crown. Take it and all the books you've found in the drow to the sage, and you get a way way ticket to hell. Err, the Abyss. Kill the boss, break the crown, kill the server. Booyah! Anyway, thats the original plot path in PoA, the Ssithraks are a new one, which I'll not give spoilers to here (the above junk many people know already, as PoA is not exactly your spring chicken of modules). Coming (somewhat) soon is the Nine Hells, and a brand new plot line, with an even-more overarching goal. Hope this makes things a bit less confusing. Talk to NPCs around town to get a better feel for what's going on. Best, Funky

Thanks Funky. I am assuming if I follow the plot correctly I will find most of what I need to fight the Drow. I really do have to have at least one character do this mod from start to finish. Any opinion on the Forgotten Realm books I found at library?

Those books are by default in the random loot, and I left em in cause we are set in the Realms.

Lol....sorry for confusion....I was refering to the library IRL. There are scads of books by different authors. I read a lot when I don't play. Just wondering if they could be helpful in playing and if they were worth a read. Like I said before I do love a good book.
BTW...your signiture is too funny!

As a huge fan of the Forgotten Realms book line myself and a long time PnP player/DM of the setting I can heartily reccommend the line. With such classic characters as Elminster and Drizzt amongst its population you could not go wrong when the mood trikes you for a fantasy romp. They would help very little in your play on PoA and would only offer background story to the official campaign that came with the game.
Certainly correct me if I'm wrong but their is no official Town of Ascension in the Northern Reach of Faerun, though such cities as Luskan and Neverwinter do exist. If you're still interested I could reccommend some books to start off with as the FR series contains over 100 novels easily, most being trilogies and they do go in a (sort of) chronological order.
Your first series to start off with should be the Moonshaes trilogy. Titles: Darkwalker on Moonshae/Black Wizards/Darkwell
If you like those I'll set your path straight. Good luck.

I'm not a big FR fan, but there are a TON of books out set in the Realms, at various time-periods. The Gods seem to come down from time to time to stir up trouble (aka Time of Troubles). Its a huge place, where new lands are continuously discovered (aka Kara-Tur). Also, the Zhentarim for example, is an evil and powerful group located throughout the Realms. I wonder where (in space AND time) does the Town of Ascension reside? Is it on any Forgotten Realms maps? It seems to be near a coast (sic Boat Ramp); is this the famed Sword Coast that Baldur's Gate, Amn, and of course Neverwinter reside on? In regards to novels, I didnt read too much FR, I was a Dragonlance fan mostly, but we role-played in Forgotten Realm settings alot. But by far the most popular FR character is Driz'zt Do'Urden, the Drow-Ranger-turned-good, with his whirling scimitars and his Figurine of Wondrous Power. You would like them, I think. Its a deep world. See: www.o-love.net/realms/fr_books.htmlfor a list of the books. Someone else here probably knows specific novels to recommend. ~ It's Just a Ride ~
