I used to multibox before (like 8 years ago) on a different & worse computer than I have now. Now when I try to launch the second instance it simply will not launch. Nothing happens. I'm on windows 10, have a ryzen 2700x cpu, although I have changed the nwnplayer.ini to use only 1 core (cpu affinity=-2 or whatever) as that seems to make the game run better. I have tried using two different installation folders and that doesn't make any difference. Anyone else run into this problem? I'm sure it's something stupid that windows is doing. I do have 2 CD keys, and I can log into each account separately after swapping cd keys with no problem....

You also need to the enhanced nwnmain.exe, as the original does not allow several instances of the game. You can either download it with arf or the wiki page under the alternate download links (Higher Ground Enhanced - Modified Client Executable). To make it work properly, rename the original nwnmain.exe to something else and put the enhanced one into your nwn folder. RENAME the enhanced, so that it has now the name of the original exe file (nwnmain.exe). As a nice side effect you can also zoom out wider than in with the original. Secondly you have to also change the Client Port= XXXX in the nwnplayer.ini in the ini file under [Profil], so both games run on a different port. E.g. game one has port 5050 and the seoncd 5060.

Can the second port number be anything? I tried this, the original port number was at 5120, and so I put the second nwnplayer.ini to port 5130 (using a batch file to swap them), and it still won't work.
*edit* I've always had the hg enhanced exe btw.

I've been trying to get this to work for like 3 hours, no luck. I've tried everything. I've tried messing with compatibility settings (I've been running the game in winxp s3 compat normally), I've tried messing with the CPU affinity, I've changed the client port number, I've tried using two different installations, I've tried renaming the exe (apparently that is a thing), I've disable the intro movie, no matter what I do the second instance will not launch. I'm sure it's something stupid about windows 10. I used to dual box on win7 with zero problems. I can click on my bat files which switches cd keys & ports and then log into either of my 2 accounts with no problems on a single instance, but as soon as I try to launch a second instance....nothing. Any other ideas of what I could try are welcome.

hmm did you actually install your orignal version and then made a copy? In that case it might be a problem caused by the info that is set into the registry. you will have to delete that.
Open your windows registry editor and go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6432Node\Bioware\NWN\Neverwinter...
Delete any info/reference tu your game there. NWN runs fine without those.

Ok, this is embarrassing, but I figured it out and it was stupid. I thought I had installed the modified exe that allowed multi-boxing, but I had really only installed the standard HG enh exe. Anyways, problem solved. Thanks for attempting to help, lol.
