hello, i'm a returning player after about 5 years. i bought it from gog and forgot my username associated with the account. i thought it would be gohavoc because that's what i make everything but i dont get a character list when i try. is there anyway to recover the account or start new?

there's a forum login called havoc102. no idea of the forum name is you or your login, but maybe try that one?

With some patience and luck, you may be able to get the old account recovered.
When he has time, Funky may be able to run a mysql query for possible account matches for "havoc" and hope that you recognize your login from the list.
Unless you can think of any other potential words you might have used, he would only have the word "havoc" to go with, which is probably a pretty common substring for account names. Of course, you may have not even used it in the first place (so it would probably help make him feel like such a request is worth the effort if you have confidence that it was something like "gohavoc").
I don't think he has much time for requests such as this, but it's always worth a shot to ask. I'd recommend giving some time for a response and see what happens.
In the meantime you might as well start a new account anyway. If you get lucky and are able to recover your old account, then you'll have a bot already in the works. Multiboxing is basically required these days, unfortunately, so the sooner you get an alt going to help yourself out, the better.

appreciate the reply, the username has got to be gohavoc. wondering if i can give him the cd key it should be associated with and get it that way. was thinking of starting the new one soon i just know how much work thats gunna be from scratch lol. all you can do though i guess.

There's a goho & goho123 in the forums from long ago... HG doesn't store your CD key (just the last four digits iirc) so you might be trying a lot of usernames  KE. |

Your character list is only tied to your login name so get that right (including caps, punctuation) and you'll see all of your old ones, as the master servers are no longer active passwords do nothing and will not block you from seeing that account, you will not actually be able to log them in to HG as you will need your user name associating with your new CD key but then we will know what your account is called.
Basically go fishing.

^ Right. While you wait for a chance of database help from Funky, you can just keep trying different possible logins over and over again. It's not a fun process but it's being proactive. As chain says, even though you wouldn't be able to successfully log in to HG without the correct cdkey, if you do manage to get the right login, you'd still see all the characters in the vault before attempting to actually enter the server.
It's a long shot but it's probably worth spending "some" time on. You're just stuck waiting for some help anyway, and if you can say "hey I sat there racking my brain checking anything I could think of to peek into vaults with no luck" then showing that solid effort might improve your odds of getting Funky to spend his time as well. It might also either jog your memory and/or rule some potentials out, both of which would only help you anyway because the more information you can provide, the better.

Do you remember the names of any of your characters? How many characters (roughly) did you have? Is your cd-key the same? madzapper |
