Boxes keep desyncing and randomly closing

Hello,

I got a problem.
After i changed from dsl to glass fiber my boxes randomly keep desycing and closing.
I didnt change anyhting in the folders and they ran well before.
client ports are all different and its still the same provider.

Does anyone has any ideas what could cause that and how to fix it?

You have a new modem I assume with the change in connection. I it might be a configuration on the modem and/or in the router configuration. Was the old connection using an ISP provided Modem & Router or Modem only?

its the same router with integrated modem.

seems like i get quite a bit of packet loss when i ping the server. But I dont know why or how to fix it.

My kid PBNoJ had this issue a few years back when we switched from dial-up to DSL, and again when we got fiber last year. What worked for us was manually changing the adapter connection speed from 100M to 10M(dial-up to DSL) and 1G to 100M for DSL to fiber. My guess was that the higher speeds leave a smaller window for receiving the packets(I'm guessing a too-small window). Good luck, as I'm not sure this will help you but it's worth a try.

thanks for the answer hackandslay. Sadly i m a pretty big IT-Noob and wouldnt even know how to make that adjustment. Tried googling and finding a youtube how to but didnt yield any results



silver was advising me to try to ping and trace the server and this is what happens when i do.

If you're using Windows 10 it's not too bad. I'll walk through it quick and dirty:

In the Search Bar type in Control Panel

then click on the "Control Panel" app. Next click on "Network and Internet" followed by "Network and Sharing Center".

On the left side, click on "Change adapter settings"

Right-click on the Ethernet button and select Properties to bring up the Ethernet Properties window.

Click on the Configure button to bring up the Controller Properties window

Go to the Advanced tab and look at the properties list for "Speed and Duplex"

It's probably set to "Auto Negotiation" and needs to be changed to "100Mbps Full Duplex"

Then just click the OK button and you can test it


Now that it's typed out it looks much harder than it seemed in my head.

Antother issue you can have is the MTU package size. I am not sure how big it is for fiber transmissions, but on DSL it is usually 1492 byts. Your LAN usually uses 1500 bytes and it helped to adjust that (in the past at least). A FritzBox! sets that stuff automatically and reduces such connection problems. I doubt your Telekom router manages that.
