for some reason...when i log on to multiplay...Im on for like 3 min and then the computer completely restarts...it only happens with NWN though on every server. It DOESNT happen in single player. I see a blue DOS screen that flashes so quick that i cant even read and then the computer restarts. I tried scanning for viruses twice and spyware twice.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

if you are using windows XP then right click on My Computer select properties click the Advanced tab then next to Statup and Recovery click settings. be sure Automatically restart is not checked. Be sure "Write an even to the system log." is checked. Next step is to contact Microsoft. They will ask for that information. You can also search google for information that appears on the blue screen (bsod) Search for Stop Error 0x00? ?? whichever appears for you. Its possible your network card is having problems (I had that problem, it would only crash if I did a file transfer over IRC, took me a year to finally replace the card)

If the crash was related to the network card...wouldn't the router go with it? My linksys wireless g router works for the main computer i have but will not send a signal to the others for some reason. I dont know if its related to comcast. This problem has been going on now for about a month and the internet router problem a week.

it could be anything really, maybe just reinstalling xp could help, could be bad memory, motherboard, etc. Also could be drivers that need to be updated. Only way you can find out is contacting Microsoft or try searching for information on the specific stop error you receive. If you are unable to connect with other computers to the router, you may need to forward ports. It could also be celular phones interefering, microwaves, other wireless devices, etc. Changing the channel of the router can help a lot for connection problems. When I was crashing when transfering files on IRC, I never thought it could be the network card since it worked fine at anything else. The easiest step you can do is check your network card manufacturer's web site for updates to the driver, reinstalling a driver is simple. Also check Microsoft's Update web site and update any critical and hardware drivers that it suggests. If you have MS's firewall installed or any other firewall try disabling it before running, if it works, then open the ports for NWN. Also in the router settings try forward ports for NWN to the computer you are running NWN on. Try checking your harddrive for errors. Get memtest from www.memtest.org/ and let it run over night. If its running with no errors you probably dont have bad memory. If you see errors, you may have bad memory (but it could also be a bad motherboard, or cpu) Also if you have other programs running at the same time as NWN try closing everything. They shouldnt cause BSOD's but some programs can be unstable.

you can also use the MS debugging tools to examine the error reports in your C:\windows\minidump directory. This gives you a little more information than the BSOD, but not exactly what caused it. Try examining each mini? .dmp file. If its pointing to a specific driver each time, try removing the driver and installing with a up-to-date one. For the deugging tools to work you need to download the tools and the symbols for your computer. Both are availble at the above site. Sysoft Sandra is also recommended by many to burn in and test your computer for errors. But I dont like it since it runs in Windows only...errors reported could be hardware related, driver related, or windows related.

Actually, I figured out the problem...It was actually related to my sound card. If you have a certain sound card ....theres some sort of crash...later i would find the exact site where i found the solution.
Thanks all!
