I noticed that the Arch-Wizard robes in the Clothing shop are showing as light armor, with weight reduction and spell failure reduction properties. I know some casters take armor proficiencies, but wouldn't it be logical for this item (since it is a low to mid-level, wizard-specific item) to be a robe instead of light armor? [EDIT] Maybe another item could be added that is a robe with roughly equal level requirements / properties? Just curious

I didn't make the item, but I suspect the intent was 'heavy' robes. Funky

Ok - in that case, would it be possible to add the appropriate armor proficiency to those robes as well? Or would that not fix the issue since the proficiency would not be pre-existing when the robes were being equipped?

You probably wont want this anyways as it will break all the modified spells like Etheral Visage and Premonition as you will be wearing armor heavier than clothes.

Ok - that is kind of what I figured. I hadn't worried about breaking the other effects really, since the character I am using is a 10wiz/30pm, so only getting fairly minimal upgrades to those spells. I would prefer to change the item to a robe, or make another item identically configured (minus weight red. / spell failure red. obviously) available along with this one.
Maybe I just need to look around more, but I seem to be having trouble finding really decent wizard or pm robes - finding plenty of them for sorcerors, but few for wiz/pm.

Of you're not depending on the spell progressions for your defense...perhaps take auto still spell and then wear plate armor and carry a shield?

Perhaps that is the best choice... as I understand it I can take those feats in LLs, so maybe those will be near on the list (unless I happen to come across robes that make it a moot point).
