While solo trawling through the desert yesterday I got to the last area before you go down to the trail and the creature that spawns the key didn't show (which was a bit annoying because I'd have liked the ring after going all the way through the areas). The Runestone scorpion did spawn though so its not like somebody could have selectively despawned it and the temple was locked anyway. I was doing this with Ilikeabrans Gald if you're checking. However (and this was more amusing) later on I did the same run with Illsensine and Snez and when we got to this area the scorpions and sanders set about each other with a degree of violence, we felt a bit guilty about intervening as they seemed to be doing a good job on each other without us.

I'll look into the critters fighting. As for the key, the triggers can be a bit twitchy, especially with characters with a faster-than-normal base move speed. Retracing your steps in the area can often fire off unfired encounters, if that problem arises. Funky

I spent about 10 minutes wandering around in the vain hope it would spawn as I would have liked another ring and as the server only had a few folks on it at the time lag was not and issue. I worked the spawn, kill, loot, rest routine until everything was dead then rooted around but to no avail. I'm not going to cry about it as I have a few of the rings but I thought I'd report it just in case. Illithid Mage with one level of Monk so no movement increase other than standard haste equipment.

Other possibility is it was despawned, by moving into the area and out again. Funky

Wouldn't the stone have despawned too and I definitely didn't leave the area until I went down (with no return possible)?

Could've been someone else, and it's certainly possible to return to the area. Funky

Didn't think it was possible once you went down as it gives you "You can't get back through the maze of tunnels" stuff when you click on the entrance but like I said I'm not worried about it. Did you find anything that makes the creatures attack each other?

It should only give you that message if you haven't been to that area that reset. As for the scorps sanders, no, their factions are correct, I suspect somone dominanted etc one of them. Funky

Ah so its porting directly there that stops you going back up. Its possible that one of the mages dominated a creature so that could have caused the mass fighting incident.

As long as you actually enter the last area of the desert before the entry to the Trail, you should be able to go back to it. Funky

Hmmm...I shall have to try that on the giant scorpion sometime...just to see if I suddenly have an army of scorpion minions going after the other critters...
That would be a sight...

And that's exactly the effect we got.
