I've recently been having a problem with time-stop, and think it's related to my character. With my pm (10 wiz, 30 pm build) whenever I cast time-stop it seems I have roughly a 50% chance of failure with it. Often I've cast it in combat, and its had no effect (once I even cast it 3 times in a row, for it to fail each time). Looking through the combat logs I get the message similar to 'Failed to cast spell from scroll' (can't remember it exactly). This puzzled me as I'm casting the spell, im not reading it off a scroll or using a wand or anything like that. It's also not because I'm failing my concentration checks, as most of the time I cast it I do so away from the enemy so I won't fail my concentration checks.
I'm wearing heavy armour and a shield, but I've taken the auto-still spells I-III, so thought this should negate any armour penelaties anyway (especially as the message I'm getting doesn't refer to these). Is there any way to fix this, as current ts's use to me as an emergancy spell (e.g. rest of party goes down, and I need to res them quickly) isn't really that useful as I cast it, only for it to have no effect, the enemies then quickly surround me, and I die before I can attempt to recast it.
I didn't have this problem when using timestop with my pure caster build before, so it could be related to the pale-master I guess. I thought possibly it could be that my still spell feats aren't working with time-stop, but if this was the case it'd only work 5% of the time (45% armour penalty, 50% shield penalty). Another possibility is that still spell only works for the armour penalty, and not the shield penalty (despite still spell negating the somatic part of the spell, which in turn should remove any penalties from casting it). However this wouldn't explain why the only spell I have the problem with is time-stop, as all the other spells I cast work fine. Looking at nwnwiki, it also is even stranger, as time-stop doesn't have a somatic compenent in the first place! (while other spells I cast like finger of death do, but always cast properly).
On a separate issue, my pale-master also seems to be having strange problems with his non-existant lungs filling with sand in the desert. While I can understand him dying by sinking into the sand when not wearing a levitation ring (although the message here isn't entirely appropriate for pms as while they may sink, their lungs won't fill with sand), the attack from the living sand kills them as well, by 'filling their lungs with sand'. Is there any way to fix this, given undead such as liches don't have lungs, and you can even see through my liches body where he should have them?
I'm also not sure if there's much that can be done about the other undead problem, but is there scope for changing pale-masters that become liches, so they will be treated as undead? In particular having them not only gain standard undead immunities (although it wouldn't matter so much if they didn't gain these if it'd upset game balance too much), but also changing the way that they will heal themselves from a heal potion, and get damaged from negative damage (which is the opposite of other undead)?
One thing that does appear to be working though is that the pale-master liches don't need a water ring to 'breathe' underwater.
