This is my 3rd toon on this server, my first two are lvl 44 and 42. So I am somewhat new to this server, looking for advice on how to build a decent staffmaster. Was Planning on going 15wiz/25wm for access to all damge types on black staff, also it will be a specialist wizard in transmution, for one xtra spell slot at each lvl. Race: Human Sub-Race: Earth Genasi Starting Stats: Str: 16 -->18 Dex: 14 Con: 12 -->14 Wis: 8 -->6 Int: 16 Chr: 8 -->6 First two stat points into Int, then rest into str Skills: Discipline-max Lore-max Tumble-max(cross-class) Spellcraft-max(cross-class) Parry-max(cross-class) Unsure on what to use the rest of my skill points for... Level/Feat Progression (Wiz bonus feat) (Wm bonus feat)1-Wiz - Doge,Expertise 2-Wiz - 3-Wiz - Wep. Focus: QuarterStaff 4-Wiz - 5-Wiz - Sell Focus:Transmution6-Wiz - Mobility 7-Wiz - 8-Wiz - 9-Wiz - Spring Attack 10-Wiz - Greater Spell Focus: Transmution11-Wiz - 12-Wiz - Whirl Wind Atk 13-Wiz - 14-Wiz - 15-Wiz - Blind Fight, Extend Spell16-Wm - 17-Wm - 18-Wm - Imp. Crit: QuarterStaff 19-Wm - 20-Wm - 21-Wm - Great Str 1 22-Wm - 23-Wm - 24-Wm - Great Str 2 25-Wm - 26-Wm - 27-Wm - Great Str 3 28-Wm - Epic Wep Focus: Quarterstaff29-Wm - 30-Wm - Great Str 4 31-Wm - Epic Prowess32-Wm - 33-Wm - Great Str 5 34-Wm - Epic Toughness 135-Wm - 36-Wm - Great Str 6 37-Wm - Epic Toughness 238-Wm - 39-Wm - Great Fortitude 40-Wm - Epic Toughness 3LL Feats: Legendary Wepon Focus Great Str 6 - 10 Legendary Fortitude Thinking of swapping 4 great stregnths for lighting reflexes, Iron Will, Legendary Reflexes, Legendary Will AB should be around 95, havent calculated saves or HP yet, but i dont think they will be all that great. Have an Enchanment book that I also might be using. Any Advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

1) Earth Genasi has acid % penalty, if I remember correctly. Any elemental penalty is going to make itself felt in hell. I built my first few chars using genasis, then started to realize the high amount of elemental damage being dished out in most legendary areas. At the very least, you will want to find a vial of dragon blood and drink it with this char. However, you will most likely want to use that same blood for a race instead.
2) Your saves are going to be low. End Game builds (Hell) should shoot for 60s.
3) Take your int up to 17. and I'd advise 18. Even though you can't cast 8th level spells, this will allow you to use 8th level slots from items by using metamagiced spells, which raise the spell level. If you can sneak in a few more metamagic feats, you can potentially open up 4 levels of spells for tensers - normal, meta+1 for 7th, meta+2 for 8th, and meta+3 for 9th.
4) You're taking transmutation foci. Don't do that. Read a book of transmutation - it will give you greater focus: Transmute for free, which gives you two more pre epic feats to take (for your metamagic feats, hint hint). You'll have to live without keen for your lowbie career. Darn.
5) You're missing normal Toughness, which is one of the best bang for the buy feats in the game.
6) You're not taking weapon master as soon as you qualify. You should immediately start taking WM levels as soon as you can. Cram in as many WM levels before 20 as possible to maximize your AB, since classes only make a difference before 21. A character with a progression of 20ftr-20 wiz has the same AB as a 40 ftr. A 10ftr-10wiz-20ftr does not have the same AB as a 20ftr-10wiz-10 ftr. Your progression should be 12 wiz - 8 wm - whatever you want.
7) I don't remember if WM can take improved crit as one of their feats, but I'd check in the training room if it's possible, to free up another feat for a save feat.
One of the best ways to learn how to build is to go look at other builds similar to what you want, and see what they have taken that you haven't, and then try to figure out why they took it.

I don't see a point in getting Epic Toughness I, II, III
Toughness is for 60hp,
I would go with Constitution I, and II, which will give you more hit points then if you went with epic toughness I, II...
And on top of that you get better saves by +1.

15 levels of Wizard is enough to get lvl 8 spells... And if you noticed i said the first 2 stat points were into int Besides what exactly would i empower, or maximize?, I already got extend.
In case you missed it i'm making a staffmaster, and correct me if I'm wrong, In order to become a Staffmaster you must have 15 lvls of Wizard before lvl 21. So the most wm you can get be pre-epic is 5 levels, which is what im taking.
As mentioned in my build epic toughness I, II, and III are my Wepon Master bonus feats, I am taking them because there is nothing else to take, last time i checked, Great Constitution wasn't a WM bonus feat....
Oh yea, I have also calculated my Saves
Naked at 60 (F/R/W): 32/35/32 With Spell Craft: 38/41/38 Gear/buffs +12stat/+20 items: 58/61/58

The weapon master's bond with his weapon of choice becomes stronger and devastatingly effective as he becomes the epic weapon master.
Hit Die: d10
Skill Points: 2 + Int modifier
Bonus Feats: The epic weapon master gains a bonus feat every three levels. In other words, at levels 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, and 28.
Epic Bonus Feats: Armor Skin, Blinding Speed, Devastating Critical, Epic Damage Reduction, Epic Toughness, Epic Prowess, Epic Weapon Focus, Improved Whirlwind Attack, Overwhelming Critical, Planar Turning, Superior Initiative, Weapon of Choice
Your correct.... I would rearrange your feats around and see if you can get them instead of epic toughness which in my eyes is a waste of a feat. If you can't, then I apologize for suggesting it because obviously I didn't really look at the build. I just wanted to suggest what I would change if I was making a similar build.
I would maybe also aim for epic damage resistance, if I where to build a WM.

Hello and nice build so far.
I have been crunching a bunch of staffy builds through the test chamber lately but I have never actually taken one through the game, so bear my input with a grain if salt.
Personally, I would not specialize in transmutation because you miss out on some helpful spells. Acid sheath being the one I would miss the most. Specializing in Illusion would be my choice.
I think taking spell focus and great foci: transmute is a great idea. Then you can grab an enchant book later to really complement this build.
Absolutely put max points into Concentration! If your buffs start getting zapped in the middle of a fight your really going to feel spell failure when you try and cast them back up.
Don't know if it is possible to pull off for non-stinger/kolya sub but if you can grab Luck of Hero's at the expense of Great Strength I would make that sacrifice for sure. If it is doable, go ahead and drop another great strength to grab armor skin/toughness. No point having non-even strengths.
Good luck and enjoy your staffy. =)

15 levels of Wizard is enough to get lvl 8 spells... And if you noticed i said the first 2 stat points were into int Besides what exactly would i empower, or maximize?, I already got extend. Tensers. Damn. I forgot about the 15 pre 20. I thought it was pre-25. I have bane knight on the brain. One of us has miscalculated your saves. I calculate your saves at 60 as 58/52/49 - perhaps I am missing something. Saves (Fort/Refl/Will): [High = Lvl/2 +2, low = level/3] 15 wiz (High will, low Fort/Ref) = 5/5/9 5 wm (high Refl, low fort/ref) = 1/4/1 @lvl 20: 6/9/10 base stats(14 con, 14 dex, 6 wis): 2/2/-2 Total @20: 8/11/8 (correct, checked in test chamber) +10 from lvl 20-40 +5 from 40-60 +6 from +12 to stats +20 from gear -------- 8/11/8 +41= 49/52/49 Gr Fort + leg fort = +9/0/0 Final: 58/52/49 F/R/W Spellcraft counts as part of the +20 from items, and only applies to spells anyway. Also, most of your saves are not going to be versus spells. Sadly, Improved Crit cannot be taken as a bonus wm feat. I wish I could remember the 'weird' feat that surprised me that wm could take.

Thanks For the input guys, I actually have already started my build, and its doing quite well so far, decided to take the save feats instead of some great str for a save boost.
Might swap an epic toughness for armor skin too, but im not sure if it will help, because my ac will be so low anyway...
