Having never played in a party with a disarming toon (though I've certainly played with my share of people with disarming character ), I'm wondering how necessary a large weapon is. I recently came into the Kolyarut subrace, and after talking with some people who have partied with a Disarmer, I'm left wondering how successful a medium sized character is at disarming Pit Fiends with a medium sized weapon. I am very much considering 2 weapon foci/weapon of choice, one medium and one large, the large one being for the bonus +4 I get to disarm. However, that's only if my weapon is LARGER than my enemies. Pit Fiends are my main concern, and I assume their weapons are large (look like double bladed swords, great swords, or something similar). So if I use a medium weapon, PF's get a +4 advantage to mine, yes? And if I use a large weapon, then neither of us would be at an advantage or disadvantage, is that correct? So I guess my questions are two-fold: is my math right, and how successful are Disarmers using medium sized toons and medium sized weapons, assuming only a caster-type bard in the party? (In other words, I would like to know how successful you are without having a Pale Master, Lasher, and Shifter using Harpy all in one party). As always, thanks in advance.

Nobody?
Okay, revised question. I'll assume my math is right (for once), and just ask to be sure that Pit Fiends use large weapons, and a medium weapon would be at a -4 penalty to disarm them. Is that correct?

Yes, their weapons are large, and yes that incurs the size penalty. Funky

Perfect, thanks Funky. Mish, could you comment on the effectiveness of your WM disarming? Do you ever find yourself within 4 points of succeeding, and wish you had a large weapon?
