Does the special ranger feat Improved Evasion only happen if you are pure ranger or do LL count towerd the 40 ranger levels?

I was under the impression that LL levels count towards ranger levels?
"-On first using the altar of legends, characters with 40 levels of ranger will receive Improved Evasion as a free feat. Characters with at least 25 levels of ranger will receive Evasion as a free feat."
Is it really true that you have to take 40 levels of pure ranger and no other classes to get those bonuses?

it says On first time using and you need to use it to get legendary levels and so its impossible to get 41 levels before touching the altar even with the correct # of XP you still are lvl 40 like your still lvl 1 even if you have 1000+ xp until you TAKE the level so yes you need pure ranger to do this but pure rangers are very nice getting shield ac and crit immune if str based also a ton of camoflauge and the removal of enemy conceal + blindfight blade thirst is nasty with pure ranger so all in all ist very worth it to go pure same with fighter if you think of a build pure works just as well

Yes improved evasion is only for characters that are pure ranger. Generally if you see something in the documentation that mentions "class level" it doesn't include legendary levels unless otherwise noted. Due to the statement in the tome of legends, "Legendary levels are not like normal levels".
As a general rule "caster level" includes legendary levels if the control class is a caster of some sort.

Didnt say that was what made them better was also saying the mere immense power of the buff and debuffs of rangers is what made them better imp evasion is just icing ^^

I dunno how far you've played a ranger halfwing, but I think you may need to go a bit farther before you try to put "immense power" and ranger in the same sentence. -S
