Spent an hour reading all the posts here related to Lag or gfx lag and cant find anything. This thread problem is similar to the "Huge Lag Spike on Spawns" thread but that thread hasn't been responded to soooo...
I am having grahics lag. Particularly in the desert, and particularly as the Devs spawn and stay spawned. Seems the quicker they can be killed the less lag I accumulate. And accumulate is the right word as the more devs that spawn (I'm singling out the devs as they cuase the most accumulative lag for me) the more choppy the game becomes.
It almost seems like there is no input output. What I mean is that It seems that as creatures and items spawn or are drawn or which or whatever happens, there is no outlet once the creature or items is gone.
This graphic lag happens everwhere; Thids, Sissy, DB, etc. ..... but not as severe as the desert.
Currently I am using the 169.21 drivers for my vid card. Tried uninstalling/installin new drivers. Tried the 175.16, 178.24 and the newest; 190.62 drivers .. all drivers tested by going to desert and spawning a small mob of devs past 1st desert map then going to 2nd desert map and spawning a small mob with the same accumulative results of lag. Also tried massing in GS the entire 2nd map and it pretty much brought my display to an unplayable choppy crawl. A quick portal relog and all lag is gone. Which brings to mind..... also when in a party of three... severe lag and the other two party members down I decided to relog on a half spawned desert dev map. GS'd when I came back. Could run around with no lag. As soon as I rezzed a party member combat ensued and the lag started accumulating again....
Trying to give as much info as possible... I have the no-crash-fix, using modified nwmain-169-hg.exe, have 30 files in my portraits folder, 880 files in my override folder, and always use the HGE_Updaters when updating.
I am using an Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT 512 MB
Windows XP Home SP3
AMD Athlon XP 2800+
2.0 GB Memory
DirectX 9.0c
Linksys Wireless-G 2.4 GHz router - encrypted
Comodo Firewall (off usually when playing NWN)
Fully updated on system drivers (well all except Bios I believe)and fully updated windows updates.
This is on baffling problem for me and have asked people in game and most said it was my drivers... others not sure.. and I have tried and searched to find the answer with no luck.
Hoping someone else has had this problem and figured it out.
Edit: bugger... forgot to state that in my NWN settings.. either everything is set to low or none. Shadows, water, grass.. basically anything extra that renders and moves
