Can we restrict the auction chest to BUR+ items, items with UR+ augs, items with added props, or LL run set loot? I recognize that this likely isnt possible or cheap to do zots wise, but there's been an influx of loot in the auction chest that makes it hard to sort through for gear that you actually want to bid on, rather than just buy.
Maybe a second auction chest for BUR+ gear?
I'm sure this will come off as elitist or whatever, but it's hard to find the "good" loot in the (recently) 40 items in the auction chest and I feel disincentivized from putting in loot that I would auction, as I feel it's just going to go unseen

Restricting the auction chest would restrict new players. One mans trash is another mans treasure and all that.
I can get behind the idea of a second auction chest for BURs+ and LL+ set items though.

Agreed. Or maybe high-tier items go on 211, and the "lower" go on 111? this would of course be manually managed by players, but its really hard to sort through everything right now and it's reducing my spend, not increasing it.

I’m up for using a different server for decent stuff... the majority is/has been trash for the last few weeks to the point I don’t bother checking it anymore 🤷🏻♂️
Probably the best/easiest way to do it as doesn’t really require any time investment from funky et all

A few weeks of extra goodies in the auction chest is just a small moment in time compared to the amount of time it's been up and running. Why not let the natural order of things play out? If things sell, more will be added. If not, then it seems like the extra work of adding items that don't sell will soon diminish desirability of adding new ones.

With the epidemic you have had an influx of new players (me being one of them). We are learning what does and doesn't have value on the auction and the only way we can learn this is by placing items up and experimenting while observing what does and doesn't sell.
I have seen items I would consider worthless sell for 100's of millions and items i thought may have a value be worthless. Us newbies will learn from experience just as Im sure you once did.
Also as mentioned previously, what you may consider trash is likely to be valuable start up gear for a new player, especially one who prefers to work for stuff rather than just have it handed to him.
It's a great idea to having an arrangement with the elites to use a specific server for the higher valued items.

How refreshing to see individuals wanting to work for their progression I personally have no problem with the added items in the chests. A quick scan on webdash helps me narrow down items that I think may be interesting to look at. But I also think if there is enough interest, a separate auction for URs and BURs may work. Heck, throw in an XR auction chest!

I'm ok with the idea of a BUR or XR only chest or both. It's not a priority, though, and it would take a bit of time to do properly. I'll see if another team member is able to work on it.

Overpriced URs and rares can also be a severe newbie trap. I talked with one new player recently who said he'd bought a basic rare immunity ring for... I think he said a couple hundred million? I advised him to just try to push for immortality first, and loot like that would become far more available. So there is an argument to be made against allowing posting lower-quality items, albeit not a super-strong argument. Caveat emptor and all that.
And while spamming the newbie channel with a million questions may not endear you to the community over time, asking about an item's value is a good idea over just testing the market, that will take a lot longer to feel every item out, possibly years. Playing with people in parties and getting a sense of who you can trust and who doesn't mind answering questions, that's the best practice I think. I for one am seldom bothered by newbie questions, especially if the newbie in question has a good attitude. You can always ask me.

Interesting points all. I am probably one of the players accused of loading crap into the auction chest. As Grasluk said, for new players coming into this mod it can be very difficult to assign a value to a piece of equipment, even before randomisation is taken into account. For example, I ran Trag upwards of 25-30 times trying to get the implode robes to spawn (they finally dropped long after I passed the need for them actually, but at that point it was more due to stubbornness than anything else). As a result, I ended up with lots of set loot, including maybe 5 of the Divine Power belts. I kept some stuff, sold some stuff in the shop, and then thought I might put some stuff into the priced market chest to see if anyone wanted it. I listed the DP belt for about 30 million or so, and received several messages from different players telling me (in a nice way) that I was an idiot. I put the next belt I had into the auction chest and it went for 500 million. Mind. Blown. For those of us without experience in end-game content, and even a bare minimum of hells experience, the use/value of certain items is unknown. Likewise I randomised a piece of armour, and given my previous experience with the DP belt, I decided to try the auction chest. Again it went for a fortune (high level cleric spell augment) whereas previously I probably would have just sold that in the shop instead of even putting it in the market chest! Given that there are literally 1000s of items in the game, excluding augs/randomised items, it is impractical to spam the newbie channel with every price request. Hence 'testing the waters' by using the auction chest. Typically I would put an item in for one cycle, and then either put it in the market chest, or sell it in the shop. This post raises a valid point - there will be a natural falloff in 'crap' items being posted in the auction chest as new players learn what sells and what does not. Bear in mind that those of us noobs often are basing our experience on gameplay from 10-15 years ago and on completely different mods. HG is amazing (and intimidating) in terms of the customisation in place. Many of us have not tried every class in HG, much less the quasis, not done hells/abyss/limbo, and when we see items that are specifically aimed at other classes, again it is sometimes difficult to know if they are actually useful or not. I don't feel the request for an additional auction chest is elitist. The top players in the game have vastly more experience in all areas that the newer players. I would be personally fine with a BUR/XR restricted chest. All I ask for is a little bit of understanding for those of us trying to make our own way in the mod as best we can.

The randomization thing can mean even a 'junk' item can be worth a lot especially if it has interesting or UR augs added to it (BUR and Master (Ego) augs are more debatable as they can (at least currently) not be stripped and reused. For instance a +1 ring with Salamanders augmenter on it (the one with Daze immunity) would be worth billions of GPs (last time I saw this augmenter in the shop it was over 22 billion to purchase!) to the right buyer and no new player could be expected to have any knowledge about this. However the BUR version Cinderscales would need to be on a usable item as it can not be stripped. If you mass sold it you'd get a few thousand GPs.

Just wanted to chime in that I completely support testing the waters by putting stuff in the auction chest you're unsure of. Completely fine with keeping the chests as they are or making a dedicated BUR+ one.
Since the player-base is so low and most veterans already have all the gear they need before even making a new toon, there aren't that many trades going on, and the few that happen often happen in private. So you can't just observe and learn how stuff is valued, and there isn't really any other way than the auction chest (or spamming the bazaar chat I guess). Hell, to make it even harder, there are lots of items that would be worth hundreds of millions to vets if they needed one in that particular moment, but which could sit unsold in the chests for weeks or months because noone needs it at that time.
On the other side of the equation, it isn't really much to ask to look through 20-30 items in the auction chest in a given week. That's about as much to look through as a single loot split, and half of it can't even be randomized, so that can be done from the webdash.

If the 20 item limit per player was enforced it would likely help with the slog of stuff ? Circumventing it by using an army of level 1 bot accounts is pretty cheeszy IMHO.

The army being only two accounts? So double what you choose to load into the chests. Not sure why that is a big deal as it seems like more for new players to parse through. What is stopping you from getting another cd key yourself or even creating a new account? Yay free market!
