Heyas, Can anyone tell me something more about his works? Where would you "put" them between other writers? Like : Less witty as Terry pratchett, but more elaborate stories or Fantasy with the same raw-ness you find in the dark tower series You get my idea

IMO, they are up there with Tolkien for the detailed elaborate world Martin has created and the quality of the story and writing.
His cast of characters is huge and they are complex, with shifting motivations, they are neither good nor evil for the most part. The details are often raw and violent with occasional mature sexual content, these are not kids books.
They read like a gritty medievil historical piece with fantasy elements woven in. Martin has obviously done his homework on realistic historical detail. His prose is excellent. I especially like his descriptions of food and feasts, adds a very realistic touch for me, and of course, his fight scene descriptions are superb.
Like a wheel of fortune, his characters rise and fall and he's not afraid to kill some off as well.
There's not a lot I would compare this series to in terms of the quality and intensity of the story (and I should add the mature elements fit well and are not over the top, e.g. compare Wizards First Rule/Goodkind which I found revolting and not adding to the story).
The biggest drawback is that the series is not complete and at the rate it's going it will be quite a few years more. But consider yourself lucky, you've got 4 and hopefully soon 5 800 page volumes to read before you get frustrated with Martin's pace.

Ty xarkon, that was a pretty good and detailed opinion.
Thou read 800 pages in ebook will be quite hard, think I might just import one of these someday...

This is a great series and highly recommended, but take note their is quite alot of mature content. Martin's storytelling is alot better than Goodkind's, it's definately one thats worth reading again. If book 5 comes out as planned I'll be grabbing it on day one.

Making some research today and found out that the first book was already translated to brazilian portuguese (althought the translators were lazy and translated from the portugal portuguese books not from the original one lol).
And also that the 2nd book is just now scheduled to be released this march 15th, and I think Im gonna pre-order it as it has some nice price off and no fees.

Best thing about his books (imo) is the complete lack of fear in his writing, never seen an author so willing to kill main characters.

They are epic...Martin, IMHO, tops the list in current fantasy writers, and maybe, just maybe, the all time list.

Check out HBO videos on Game of Thrones....wow! Looks like they did a really nice job on this, I'm in the middle of re-reading the book and noticed lots of lines verbatim...can't wait. www.hbo.com/game-of-thrones/index.html(might be a bit of a spoiler for those that haven't read the books) ---Xarkon
