From what I could find logs Cata's SF monk did about average AA/WM damage in deeper part of hells (styg-cania) - never seen it in abyss, but it being 5xD means lesser AB pens that helps it there. However, personaly I prefer having WM to disarm balors/pf's/etc rather than monk SF caster mobs/weirdable stuff.
As for the AB - I've been running a wiz/aa in some hells and abyss recently. It'll end up 96 AB at final, but it is now only lvl 57 and the AB it has at low 90's right now(listen around 100 untill gets VoV at lvl60) and it is really depressive watch at 40-50% hit ratio in Malad where lasher is at 70's%. I even decided to focus paragorn cornugons and other not (easily) instakillables over PF's/Males cus I was missing so much vs them, especialy against p1's and p2's. In abyss (zio 1+2) I didnt have big problems at hitting things, but Zio is quite special in terms of enemies to other abyss. Also as squishy AA (pre lvl 60) I was hiding at back and picking targets to aim at is different than frontline tanks who often only have 1-2 options in order to block enemies.

Lol I was being stupid, my monk tops out at 95AB it's my Staffmaster that hits 99ab, don't ask me how the heck I got those 2 confused Lee, not played my Monk but I have played other Dex and Str Tanks and can honestly say I've noticed very little difference in Hells at least, not played in Abyss since the change. When I said seriously nifty damage I meant seriously nifty compared to other Fist Monks I've seen. It's been seen to do anywhere between 100 to 200k damage in Hells per run. It's last few journeys through hells it was consistantly in the top 3 or 4 on the logs damage wise. As far as Stunning Fist is concerned I think people seriously underestimate it's value. Yeah most of what it can stun is instable by other stuff but if those insta killers are busy dealing with a Rak while the Advespa is pounding on the Str Tank it just KD'd who was keeping the Pit Fiend busy that now wants to chew on some other poor sod, u telling me you wouldn't like knowing a SF Monk just stunned the Advespa and picked up the Str Tank so he could wail on the PF again keeping it off u? Also yeah some nastfy randoms can be Ruin'd, but why Ruin em when they can be stunned and deaten to death while you save your ruins for worse randoms, etc? Ok it isn't a necessity but hey, if used wisely when you have one in ya group it really can make a run smoother. Some of the nastiest randoms in Hells can be stunned. As for QP I remember not too far back people saying Greater Ruin was pretty much required to have even though you only got 2 casts per round, now the argument for not worrying about QP is it is only 1 per rest despite the fact there is stuff it can insta nothing else can? I'm seeing a logic fail here. But again off topic, lets move the monk stuff elsewhere so this stays on topic, I'm kinda interested in it lolz Cata

As for the GR, a lot of endgame runner core has changed in last 1-2 years. I for one only have 2 casters out of like 10 that I've had that has/had GR on it. Do I like seeing some nasties go POOOF! yes it is nice, but most casters I rate another leg spell foc for +2dc worth more as well as those skill points from spellcraft. Seeing elite balor vanishing 3sec after spawned always creates the imagine "wth just happened" and then you realise, ah - there's a QP monk in team. It is nice moment, but I'm in boat with Baz here, I rate other stuff, like AB and defence over QP and SF - personaly taste.
I just honestly cant recommend any build that has under 95ab and wants to deal damage with melee. The AA I was speaking earlier gets lik 50% if not more of his damage from summons being focused in that, so I can exclude it from the AB minimum - which it'll at the end fulfill anyways.

We'll definitely pick up on the monk talk somewhere else, and before I shift focus I would like to state I never said that GR was mandatory, or implied it. If you can fit it in featwise and get a decent DC you should try. I'll agree with fallen that in some cases it would definitely pay off to get legendary focus in another school, giving you a potential +10% chance at success.
So those were my minimums with open subs and pre demi. (obviously there are some exceptions) What do ppl have to say about UR/BUR subs and double demi? Is it different? The same? Or just + X, X being the bonus stats?
