I don't know if you can even do this...but I though of something from my days slumming in Ultima....how about some new variations on the elementals? I think you have a lovely collection of them now but they are so much fun. How about Poison, or Gold or Holy water or Acid. There just seems to be soooooooo many delightful options. A couple more that could be useful underwater would be nice. The water elemental can not match the tainted water eles at all. Do any of the other elementals not drown when underwater....I noticed Ice drown and was somewhat puzzled.
Just some silly ideas.... Peace, Phantanya

We are planning an elementalist set of areas, of as yet undeterminate level. We may put some new ones there, we'll see... As to other elementals not drowning, if you make up a list of the cretures you don't think should drown, I will happily add them to the script (if I agree). I would need specific critters here, including the spell/ability they came from. Best, Funky

Although none of the create/animate undead summons should drown (being already dead), none would survive more than a hit or two, anyway. Assuming elementals breathe (which I'm not sure about), most should drown. If they don't, a few still need to perish (Magma, probably Ooze and Vacuum).

Anything with a level of undead is already set not to drown. What I'm hoping for here are suggestions on things that are drowning but should not. Thanks, Funky

In paper and pencil elementals are not living in the way that you and I are. They're more akin to undead. Technically none of them breath air though some may suffer other repercusions from being submerged in water such as dousing.
The problem in saying that a fire elemental cannot exist under water leads into other questions such as weapons that deal fire damage and spells as well. What happens when a mage casts lightening bolt under water?
I say just leave it alone and assume all summons may exist happily under water. Perhaps the summoners ability to coexist submerged in water is transfered to its sumons as well?

The problem in saying that a fire elemental cannot exist under water leads into other questions such as weapons that deal fire damage and spells as well. What happens when a mage casts lightening bolt under water? You've never actually BEEN underwater, have you? Lighning spells damage you and your party as well. Fire spells (save for flame weap and darkfire) do not work, gust of wind and drown don't work, etc etc. It's realistic, that's the point, and that is why I requested these suggestions in the first place. What I DIDN'T do, because it would've taken an even more obscene amount of time, was to sift through every critter a PC could potentially bring underwater and decide whether or not it should be able to survive (it's a long list, believe me). I did broad strokes instead, and any creature that didn't make my 'survives underwater' list 'drowns'. It doesn't actually drown, a script kills it, signifying that it cannot exist underwater. Hence, fire elementals are snuffed, ice elementals melt (or float, or go into martinis), but undead are unaffected, as are water elementals. If there are others that belong on the 'can survive' list, by all means, let me know. N/S about ice elementals, Phanny, though I'm interested in everyone's thoughts on this one. [Edit] Oh, the spells were handpicked as well, with flame weap and darkfire left in for balance reasons. Feel free to make suggestions in that regard as well. Thanks, Funky

I've been on numerous runs through water shrike territory and have even slain Wastal a few times. Even have a nice Slag as a trophy. I've just never played a caster underwater. {Shrugs} So sue me.

Anything with a level of undead is already set not to drown. Funky, do HG Lich's currently drown? If so, could they be updated so they don't? Thanks, Dave.

Greetings,
It may be worth consideration that a (non-corporeal) wraith sub-race may also be unable to drown, even if it wished too.
ALl the best,

ok...more ideas. The kids are asleep and I have insomia. Pink Bunny Slippers of Dark Humor. They could have really cool stats...but be big and pink and make your avatar look ridiculous. Epic Spell: Tashers Irresistable Riverdance.....I want to see dancing! Mini Solo quests: ...perhaps one for each class with good rewards that can only be obtained if you are alone in area. Or even quests for small parties of no more than 4. Card tables out in front of Rips for playing Spades or chess. Victims of Stinking cloud acctually puke. Randomize the type of loot that normally respawns the same. (this would be really nice at lower lvls so one could experiment more with equipment) Bard lyrics: Chaos Chords .........drops dicipline down to zero and negates a random immunity. Move all the loot. Re-hide it.(Muahahahahah) Yaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwn! ok. thats all for now. Peace, Phantanya
