I would guess that if you took a poll of all players splashing pally, that the vast majority either did not know or did not consider that they received disease immune. Armor proficiency and saves is my impression of why ppl splashed pally.
As to demi count... i never checked. My ranger and the boxed turner were both 2x. We ran into a few superiors (including a PF who caused us no end of problems). Gun to my head, I would guess 6-8. Mini's were not healing.

My druid, cleric and Bard all have pal splash. I had no idea about disease imm and still not sure what all it effects in hells. It doesn't prevent contagion in abyss does it, that would be about the only thing I'd scream about. Ekolids are from hell...or abyss...er, they are terrible.
Actually one major complaint, I have about abyss is that the way somethings are designed, when they go bad it's far worse than anything in hells and many time unrecoverable. From ekolid contagion, to being feared into spawns, to tomb motes. Honestly, I think it might be feasible to cap some stuff like contagion and motes, just to make it run ending (yes, I know it's possible to recover in many times, in the first DT than2 [4/18/2010] run my sorc had 754k damage. we won, but it was tough).

Tomb motes are capped. Each can only spawn 3 times, up to a possible 6 spawns (3 iterations of 2).

I've seen a mass of 40-60 tomb motes, starting from just 1 or 2, so not sure how the split cap actually works.

For a long time, most of my casters have been running without disease immunity and some of them have seen quite few areas of the mod. Never missed it. Disease immunity can be tricky to fit in an end game gear setup, but now that you are talking about it, end game diseases cannot be covered by gear, but properly removed. As for lowbie content, disease imm is not so hard to come by and you can (and probably will) improvise in terms of what you are wearing.

Sleep immune is nice in the abyss, and there's no question that the saves boost is great. I think its a great splash on most classes. I have 2 pal lvls on many of my tanks.

Paladin dont give sleep immunity as far as I know. Only thing that gives it atm that I can remember now are elf/half-elf race and monk perfect self. At level 2 paladin give only fear immunity which is considerably better than sleep. While sleep immunity is good, not having it isnt *that* bad, even if you are hit by 1 point you wake up. But tbh none of my toons have it and so far I never got a death because of it even thou it happened a lot of times around some elite nasties and misclick in flowers or around mushrooms, it does show in logs if you are sleeping too much thou

Sorry, crossing my wires, I meant to say pure fear immune.
