Having been left behind by her comrades, Jenna spent the week studying her magical arts and learning how to craft magical wands to enhance her abilities. Spending a great deal of time in town, she eventually learned of a tower to the west of town which used to be inhabited by a long dead magician. What better way to acquire new spells than to raid the tower of a dead magician Jenna thought!
As she was walking back to her room to get ready for the dangerous trip, she felt a tug at her belt strings. Whirling quickly, with staff in hand, she found a short man in possession of her spell components.
About ready to call the guards, the man forestalled her by introducing himself as Seebo Daergel, a minstrel by trades. Having seen how heavy such a pouch must have been, he was only trying to give her a hand to lighten her load.
Deciding she may have use for such a light fingered bard, she quickly convinced him to accompany her, telling him of all the treasure that must be still lying untouched in the forgotten tower. With visions of gold coins dancing in his head, Seebo agreed to accompany Jenna to this tower of treasure.
Having learned how to summon animals from thin air, she showed Seebo a rudimentary version of the spell and he was soon conjuring badgers all over town. There were badgers in the trash, in flower pots, on the roofs, in people's backpacks. Everywhere you looked there were badgers! It wasn't long before the town guard was seen running down the street looking for the cause of all this mischief. Deciding it may be better to not be seen, Jenna cast a spell of invisibility over herself and her new companion and they left to find this tower.
After a couple of days of exploring and fighting off beetles, Jenna and Seebo came to a dark wood. Walking quietly and trailed by their new pet summons, they started to explore. It wasn't long before they heard a sound like a stuck pig...many stuck pigs, that they found a band of Orcs. Seebo quickly drew forth his bow and arrow, shooting left and right as he sang a merry tune about a love affair between a pixie and an ogre. Using her magic, Jenna summoned forth wave after wave of magical fire. The fighting was intense. There seemed no end to them at all, when from behind the orcs came a snarl like none we had heard before. The ground shook as a orc of immense proportions strode forward. Flinging aside any orcs in it's way, it charged towards Seebo and Jenna.
Singing some song about ginger bread man not being caught, Seebo fired arrows into it's belly, distracting it and giving Jenna enough time to get a magical arrow spell of that pierced the beasts' heart. Seeing their leader fallen, the other orcs decided they didn't want anything more to do with us and fled.
Having stripped the fallen orcs of all valuables, Jenna and Seebo continued thier search for the tower. It wasn't too long after that they came upon a old and crumbling tower.
Entering the tower, they found it was still inhabited...by owl bears! Sending forth their pet summons, Jenna and Seebo burnt and pierced the foul beasts to death...the smell was ghastly. Looking around, they discovered that the tower didn't seem as uninhabited as it looked like from the outside. Furniture, carpets, and painting decorated the ground floor. While nice, Seebo decided he didn't want to have to lug an armoire back to town, so we continued our search for lost treasure. Continuing into the living room, Jenna suddenly became aware that something was not quite right. Telling Seebo to stop, she searched and found a trap hidden underneath a rug. Pointing this out to Seebo and telling him to step around it, she continued towards the back of the room when she heard a "click" followed by the sound of missles flying through the air. Turning quickly, she found seebo pierced and quickly bleeding to death, having stepped on the trap she had just indicated. Taking out her healing packs, she bandaged and healed his wounds before he was too far gone. Admonishing him to stay close and watch where he stepped, the proceeded towards the stairs to the second floor.
On the second floor, the smell of owl bear stench...and something more dangerous...a sulphorous smell, assualted their noses. Preparing her most deadly spells, Jenna walked forward to be confronted by more owl bears and a dog from hell! Seebo, knowing her fire spells would do no good against the beast, quickly let forth a volley of arrows. Nimbly avoiding the hail of arrows, the beast lept forward, going for Jennas throat while the owl bears beat upon her pet dire wolf. Jenna knew she was dead as she saw the hell hound fly through the air towards her. All of a sudden there was a flash of fur and sharp little teeth flying towards the hell hound. Seebos pet badger knocked the hell hound out of the air and began gnawing at it's leg. Running up to the beast, Seebo let fly an arrow into it's skull at point blank range, killing it. Meanwhile, the dire wolf gave a howl of agony as the last of the owl bears bent down and snapped it's back. Screaming with outrage, Jenna opened up her hands and let wave after wave of moulten fire wash over the owl bears, reducing them to ash.
As Seebo and Jenna caught their breath, a shadow fell across the room. Striding towards them was a draconic figure cloaked in black. Wings of midnight stuck out from it's back. Breathing fire, it incinerated Seebo's badger...leaving nothing but teeth and claws. Screaming with rage, Seebo attacked it with an axe he pulled from his back pack. Laughing, the creature used it's staff to fend off the attack and with a back handed swing of it's claws tore Seebo's throat open. Gurgling, with blood coming out of his throat and mouth, Seebo looked at Jenna and pleaded for help before collapsing...dead. Vowing not to leave her new found friend behind, Jenna and the creature hurled spells at one another. The tower shook with the magical energies being unleashed. Fire caught and blazed all around. Acid arrows melted stone where they struck. It seemed that there would be no end in sight to this battle when with an unexpected move, the creature unleashed a cloud of noxious gas, poisoning and debilitating Jenna. Hissing with pleasure, it advanced for the kill...
Staring up at it's hideous, dragon-like face, Jenna heard a voice behind her..."oh hello, need a hand?"
Surprise on the creatures face at this unexpected voice, Jenna took a moment to look around, and saw her old friend <<whose name now escapes her memory>>, the dwarven fighter. Wielding his axe with gusto, he sliced into the surprised and stunned dragon-mage, cutting him in twain.
Helping Jenna up, the dwarf offered to help her bury her companion. Without a word, Jenna drew forth her silver, enchanted scroll case. Removing one of the very rare spells protected within, she called forth the spirit of Seebo and joined it back with his body.
Coughing, and looking very gruesome, Seebo thanked Jenna...and the new companion...who looked like he needed some help carrying stuff. With the help of the dwarf, the group headed back to town, laden with magical armors, wands, spells, rings, and staves that they had found on thier quest.
To Be Continued..........
<<This story was based on true events. Some places and events may have been changed slightly in the interest of story telling>>
>>I logged at that point, wasn't doing so well and it was getting late. We had also ventured into the electric beetle caves and the gnome fort (where the dwarf actually showed up and where seebo had fallen). If it wasn't for him, I think both of us would have been toast. Message me so I can edit this to put your name in...sorry I forgot it
I ended up getting to level 7
yay now I get Tiger summons!!!! and Seebo went from level 3 to level 5 I believe by the time I logged. We were wondering where everyone was. It was quite fortuitous (glad I prayed) that the dwarf logged in just as Seebo went down. Anyway, I hope to see you guys next Thursday!
