It went pretty well overall. I cleared up to Lolth, then died immediately to her due to forgetting to enter the room under GV. Idiotic mistake on my part, got morded right away. Discoveries:
- Stormtroopers don't have Evasion, so Max Acid Fog is pretty good on them.
- Droghers aren't immune to Harm! With Cleric slot items, I should be able to clear the last room without resting. This came as a surprise.
- I completely forgot about the need to Gate across the Crown Sanctum, this means 1) I don't have a safety net in the form of Gate back at the point of no return once I open the lever doors, and 2) I can't get back to the ring pedestal like I planned. This means I have a combined 10 ring charges between the Crown Sanctum and the entire Immortal run. Not a pleasant prospect.
EDIT: It did just occur to me that I could DIE ON PURPOSE just before the lever doors (with equipment removed of course) and use Gate to recharge the ring just before opening them. The only caveat here is potentially despawning Lolth if she spawns on entry, or even the crown. I will have to test this, as if it's not a risk, it could be incredibly helpful. I think I can ring rest before taking the death, have Gate set to the pedestal itself, and thus not need to backtrack or rest in town, and that might allow me to make the despawn timer.
If that DOES work, it will represent the first and only useful example of death abuse in this speedrun!

Just FYI even if you take equipment off, I believe the death script can still take something from you. That's nice to know on the droghers, everything else in drow is immune. -S

yes, yes. and discussing exploiting the anti-exploit on forums should keep it secret. no chance of it being fixed

yes, yes. and discussing exploiting the anti-exploit on forums should keep it secret. no chance of it being fixed Tank, there is already an "anti-exploit" in place for this. It's called HC. If you take issue with the meta element of dying/talking to the old man repeatedly, resting in Limbo, etc. then feel free to play HC.

Or we could stay on topic and realize that this is a speedrun and I'm going to take advantage of anything I can. Thanks for the suggestion, condude.

Getting back on this horse a bit; I'm probably going to be too late for RPG Limit Break this year. Might make it, but the submission deadline is around Christmas. We'll see.
My testing today was cut short as I realized it's a bonus XP weekend, which throws off my grinding timings. Got a bunch of my notes fleshed out early game, but will have to wait until later in the week and start fresh.
One thing I really want to test is Children of the Corn grinding. Needed for this:
- At least 5/- Bludgeoning. Zeke's rings or a belt, though I don't know where the bludgeoning belts are. Anyone know this offhand?
- Stoneskin, which starts off at 10/+5, and when I normally kill MOC reaches 10/+8. If the kids' fist enhancement is under +5, this will be fine. It probably isn't. Greater Stoneskin could make up for this, haven't checked what + it is, but it'll be available four levels later. Since Stoneskin is level 8 in my build, I am forced to kill the Half-Orc Bandit Chief first.
- Death Armor and Elemental Shield. Death Armor will be empowered. Mestil's Acid Sheath joins the party at level 10, at 12 I can also empower Elemental Shield, and I can empower Mestil at 14.
- Immunity to Quivering Palm and Stunning Fist. This is the real problem, since I don't know which immunities cover these. Death magic? Mind spells? Freedom? Death magic can be the Strange Tower belt, Mind spells are level 10 for Lesser Mind Blank, and Freedom is the Slaver's Bracelet or Epic Flag. If anyone knows what works for the kids' fist abilities, please tell me, otherwise I'll just test them.
If I can make the kids die early enough, I will be able to speed to 18 a lot faster, meaning less farm grinds, more early LOLZ in the run, and being able to save certain quests for later for even more XP.

I've used Lesser Mind Blank on partymates to prevent/remove stun from them before.

I'll probably end up going there as an extension of my second Farm clear anyway, which will mean having Greater Stoneskin and Lesser Mind Blank. If that definitely blocks it, I'm only worried about Quivering Palm. I'll test that a bunch in conjunction with Strange Tower belt and see if I die at all.

Death magic immunity never protects against Quivering Palm, hence I always try to get a group for that tag in HC. There might be something in the engine to give you the immunity to it, sort of like how you can be immune to mortal strike and greater ruin by having a certain amount of immunities and skill points, but I haven't found a combination that protects against it. Immunity to stunning fist I imagine can be granted by randomizing a lowbie item and getting "Immunity: Stun", but it's not something I have tested myself.

I think QP can (only) be protected from with immunity to Critical Hits. Unfortunately, the Crit Ring requires Level 34, meaning that the only way to get that in there while still being able to get the tag is to have enough levels of Pale Master, period. That means you're gonna have to rely on Crowd Control or just plain ol' luck. -- arek

I'm probably wrong but doesn't their QP trigger only when they can actually damage you? I've fought them MANY times and probably died only once in all those years. That's the tactics damage shield farmers use as well. The statistics of throwing a 1 only once in hundreds of rolls just doesn't work out. They most likely have the old vanilla QP not the new one.
EDIT: From the vanilla wiki. Quivering palm may only be used on creatures at a lower level than the character. If a quivering palm attempt does not inflict damage, the attempt will fail.
