I was thinking about treant and how despite their strong feat additions and stat bonuses, their slow speed makes them not quite worth using, especially compared to other UR races.
what i propose is that you make treants even stronger and make them BUR status. their dexterity penalty is the only thing keeping their other stat bonuses from adding up to 10 (which seems to be the hardline for bur races). i think that instead of feats, they should get modified immunities and vulnerabilites such as 25% piercing, 50 fire vulnerability, 5-10% all other elemental immunity

Have you ever considered that maybe Treant just isn't the race for you? Given all the subrace choices, there are bound to be one or two that despite being balanced, your just not going to like. Compared to races like Baseborn Titan and Dragonblooded, Treant is pretty good. what i propose is that you make treants even stronger and make them BUR status. First, what do you do about all the treant books and tags that already exist? Making Treant BUR would effectively give half the people on the server a BUR race. Second, what will you do when the first person who finds Treant in the hells instead of Genie comes to pk you?

dragonblooded and titan are weak subraces, but they don't have a crippling trait which makes them neigh unuseable. its not that there are better, its that treant is so unuseable for being ur making it a bur would give it bonuses that could make up for the speed
first: you could simply remove the tag and give players a random ur item, inform players in advance so those who have the tag and like to use the race still get to do it. OR create a different tag for the bur version and erase the ur treant book from loot
2nd, of course i'd be a man and run away

If anything I'd probably just increase treant base speed to normal. Not really sold on that, though it's trfue the slow speed was unintentional at the time we added the subrace. Funky

armor skin and partial cold immunity are nice, and of course the huge stat increases. increasing movement speed to normal would, imo, put treant on par with fallen angel, given that FA has no penalties, no race requirement, and grants the strider feat

Wouldn't using the way of the willow to change to a smaller size reset speed to slow every time you used it? AFAIK the only time that polymorphing doesn't cause massive spell loss is through changing the characters base appearance, which resets the speed to whatever the base speed of the appearance is.

Yup, thats correct. It'd involve a polymorph to avoid the boot to reset size, which would cause spell loss. Not exactly ideal, and one of the reasons I'm not sold on it. Still another way to go would be granting a flat out speed bonus effect, but because of what 1.67 did to that (making it not stack with haste), it'd be pretty complicated to get it right. Funky

Would it be possible to give them the Monk/Barbarian Speed feat? Or is that just a placeholder (or whatever it's called) feat...

would 3 monk levels and freedom of movement give them a boost to normal speed status? cuz maybe you could give treants free monk speed feat?

lol whoops, you can't give it to them, but what if i build a 37/3 druid? would i get vastly improved speed? or would it be overridden/canceled out whenever i changed to the willow form to move around?
could you make it so that treants get the way of the willow in the test arena? i've got a 40 treant monk running around alright, but i'd like to see if the way of the willow messes w/ it

I knwo I'm gonna get stepped on for this.. Lately all my suggestions go to hell. But he it goes. hehehe TO be honest the Treant needs to stay as is as far as speed goes. Resoning. First and foremost this is a roleplaying game above and beyond all things. Yes several enhancements to the system and modified into more of a H/S environment but still a role playing game. Treants by nature are Slow. ( hate to make the comparison but LOTR i think always showed Treants to be rather true to nature or definition we should say ) It is an inconvinience to be slower then everythng else but you still get alot to make up for that power wise. You are making a choice to play a living tree?? how fast have you seen trees move? By the nature of trees in reality they do take a long time to do anything. And after that long time they become very strong in several other ways. For the sake of roleplaying the ents need to stay slow as you have to give up something for power and this one deficiency is minor compared to some others. You want something thats fast go with pixies or something. But as always Funk has the final word and its a matter of weather or not it can be done at all. Aside form the fact that it shouldnt be done at all.. OK GUYS TAKE AIM. AND....................... FIRE!!!!!

OMGWTFJWNORRISURAFRIGGINIDIOT!!!!! Who in their right mind would think that this is a role-play...wait....you're right! It is! Frankly you're lucky trees move at all. Thank Tolkein for Treants being in the game in the first place, and accept your slowness. For anyone that's seen the LOTR movies, you know this is realistic. And really, treants are typically casters right? Well, casters normally stay at the back anyway, so what if you're a little slower? Groups don't move THAT quickly thru LL areas like DB and Sssithrack's, so you can always keep up there. Or better yet, setup your "killing field" (you are a druid most likely, right?) and tell tankers to pull enemies back to that. As for getting to the start of a run, just don't volunteer to be the "runner".

i understand the whole rpg aspect, but tbh this is an action based server, and its not like i'm asking to for ultra-speed for them.
as for your claim that this deficiency is minor, i think you will find that slow speed is one of the biggest downfalls of a subrace short of stat penalties.
the treant is strong, but i am speaking from personal experience when i say that being as much of a target as a treant is, lack of speed removes his ability to maneuver or even run away. and on a server such as this, that means death.
