Just rename it to nwmain.exe, and take out the "-169-hg" in the name.

is there *any* way we can get ARF merged with SNARL? Both programs are great, but together they would be even better....

I had to wipe my NWN install yesterday. I used ARF2 to download all of the relevant files. I crashed loading into the final map of toyshop, and am missing some placeables, cloaks, and the expanded color palette for cloth, leather, and metal.
I ran the "test HAK file integrity" and "check for updates now" feature in ARF2 and found no errors or additional files to download.
are there additional downloads that are not included in ARF2?
i figured it out. my cd and dvds don't work, so i purchased the game from GoG. their version of nwn 1.69 is missing some items, so downloading the critical rebuild of 1/69 from bioware fixed it.

So does ARF2 download and install the critical rebuild patch?

Not so far as I know, or this wouldn't have been an issue, I think. I've mentioned the issue to bhao.

So does ARF2 download and install the critical rebuild patch? yes, but only if the 1.69 patch isn't already present. it reads a reg key with the version number to check this. if this new gog version is missing something even though it claims to be 1.69, then all that is needed is a way to identify this version and at least once apply the 1.69 crit rebuild anyway. so... um... anybody know a reliable way to do that?

so... um... anybody know a reliable way to do that? The generic Key from GOG is always the same key. If someone could PM you the Key, ARF could make something like IF Key = <generic Key from GOG> THEN load critical rebuild....

If someone could PM you the Key, ARF could make something like IF Key = <generic Key from GOG> THEN load critical rebuild.... Though a method, not entirely reliable (people are likely to switch out the default CD Keys before getting online). I'm inclined to check something regarding the state of files affected by the patching process (modified date?). Will see what stands out on comparison.

You are right. Best method would be indeed to check files.
If that turns out to be difficult/problematic, you could consider to make a button/or under options like "If dire problems to enter HG, dunno why. Please load just everything new (NWN update, CEP, HG enhanced, whatever)".

I believe you can force that option by opening the Updater Dialog from the File menu. That's something I'll be testing today.

Discrepant Resource Report for the GOG Install (GOG.com\Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition\data):
xp1patch.bif - missing; I'm not sure this is used anymore--1.69 rebuild did not add it, Linux 1.69 server patch specifically instructs you to delete it. xp2patch.bif - incorrect file size (127,609kb modified @ 4/29/2005 11:49AM -- patches to 359,896kb @ 5/15/2008 1:37PM) xp3.bif - incorrect file size (463,718kb modified @ 5/15/2008 10:46PM -- patches to 627,919kb @ 5/15/2008 1:46PM)
I was able to join HG before getting the Critical Rebuild, but as expected several game resources were missing (partially invisible icons, unexpected silver textures). I imagine the Steamworks tileset is missing in the original install, so if I had gone into the Toyshop I likely would have crashed as well.
ARF2 can force install the Critical Rebuild, though an auto-detect capability would make it more user friendly. At any rate, given my experiences thus far, I believe I shall have to create a walkthrough specifically for acquiring the game through GOG and the extra steps required to get it working, to prevent cluttering up the Getting Started guide.

I love the program but Im so used to that exe file I'm at a toss up lol um... just check "use modified client" in optionswow, i just noticed that i never actually implemented that. the check box doesn't do anything - cough*cough is there *any* way we can get ARF merged with SNARL? Both programs are great, but together they would be even better.... arf is meant as a tool that facilitates easy hg updates and access, and is more an "official hg" application - something i did as a dm. snarl is something i did initially just for me. if others find it useful then that ok too, but i did that just as a player. not everybody wants a big log reader just so that they can have convenient hak updates and a server browser. snarl also takes up cpu time while nwn is running which might be a bad thing on single core pcs. the server browser in snarl was actually an afterthought and this is a much better place for it. if anything it should be taken out there xp1patch.bif - missing; I'm not sure this is used anymore--1.69 rebuild did not add it, Linux 1.69 server patch specifically instructs you to delete it. xp2patch.bif - incorrect file size (127,609kb modified @ 4/29/2005 11:49AM -- patches to 359,896kb @ 5/15/2008 1:37PM) xp3.bif - incorrect file size (463,718kb modified @ 5/15/2008 10:46PM -- patches to 627,919kb @ 5/15/2008 1:46PM) that should help
